Worth every ache.;)
The last i heard Ian Holmes had not got his entry in on time. Does anyone know if the organisers let him race because of his previous record in the Ben race or did he get in via the waiting list
I did it! My first Ben race under my belt.
Set off vey, very steady, jogged the road towards the back of the field as was worried about blowing up later on.
Once I got going on the climb I worked my way through the pack.
Felt good at Red Burn and pushed on again. It was, however, further than I thought it would be from Red Burn, and eventually I settled in among a long line of runners and followed them to the top.
I felt good at the turn and had it in my mind to let it go on the descent and pull back some more runners.
But just a minute or so into the descent I tripped over the big stones going flying face first. I bruised my leg, ankle, arm and shoulder, much of my right hand side to be fair. It hurt like hell, for a moment I thought it was race over.
I walked for a bit, got myself togther and carried on.
Problem was it shattered my confidence on the rest of the descent and I picked my way down slowly.
The road at the end was a killer! Got back in just over two hours.
I was happy to have got round, but bit disappointed not to go under two hours.
Will I return? Not sure yet.
Anyone got a link to results or pics yet?
Lots of people on hillside with cameras.

what an experience, a very very tough race for me , the steep upward trudge after the burn was hell , i started to die badly, didnt really know where i was and got a bit unfocused, eventually the summit came and i absolutley thrashed it down the boulders and scree passing loads , fell 3 times in places and as soon as i hit the steep grass it was hell, slid on my arse for 30ft after being knocked over but somehow made it down, the road was hell and my legs were shot but i couldnt beat wheezes time of 1.49 which i thought i had a chance of at the start, pleased with my time and woke up yesterday and hiked back up to the SUMMIT  with amanda , i cannot tell you the pain i was in walking down from the top , 5 hrs of walking, cannot walk now but im pleased , twice up and down the ben in a weekend
fab
Bloody hell Daz h!!! you must be crazy. did you not have enough on sat. i didnt see any traffic jams on the motorway but i was catching a few z's on the way stick.
FOUND ON BEN - NIKE HRM WATCH
If anyone lost a watch on the race let me know 'cos I've got it. The strap's broken and I nearly stepped on it on the screes. I tried to hand it in to an organiser but they suggested I wander round asking if anyone had lost it - I thought the forum was probably the best way.
Enjoyed the race and got in just under my target time of 2.1/2 hrs. Not sure I'll be back next year but I do fancy trying another race North of the border, maybe Stuc a`Chroin.
Just got home with my family its a long drive back to Wales(with crying baby)from Invermoriston a little north of Fort William.Had a great day the race was very hard but loved the atmosphere will be back.....Well done to all who ran.

that was a tough one this year.
Fell on the path on the way up, slipped on a rock, again on the way up, battering my shin. Cold and sluggish at the top (must have been bordering on hypothermia as I turned down jelly babies from the summit marshall, mad). Turned about 4 minutes off pb time
Descended like I'd just had hip replacement surgery (without the aid of Landis's pharmacist) losing ground to just about everyone and about 6 mins off my best time.
Despite gaining places on the way back along the road (and so I should have: I'd done eff all running for previous half hour), I still finished 10 mins off my pb.
Ho Hum - you've got to take the rough with the smooth and they don't get much rougher that the Ben on a greasy day.
Still, entries for next year open soon, and I was only 10 spots off the Livvy prize.....
(and if you were there have a close look at the race program - there might be more than bbc scotland filming it next year;) )

Anyone know when the race will be on the Adventure Show on BBC Scotland?
I am sure I read in the programme it would be mid to late October Madmick.
I will dig the programme out and confirm.;)
No dates mentioned, sorry Madmick.
The next Adventure Show is on Tuesday 6th November from 7-8pm on BBC2 Scotland, Sky channel 990 for those of us south of the border.
Marvin,
I've just looked at BBC website and the programme is on Weds 7th at the same time.
Hope someone is going to do the business with the DVD copies!!!
A club member who did the OMM at the weekend asked one of the camera crew who filmed the Ben (and the OMM) when it was going to be shown. He also said Nov 7th.
It was listed on DigiGuide as being on Tuesday, but it's obviously been moved to Wednesday as confirmed by DigiGuide and BBC as others have spotted. http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/listings..._4284_23098_60 None of the listings seem to be confirming that The Ben is on next week's programme, but at the end of the last programme they said it would be.
I'll do my best to save onto the PC and to DVD, but the quality never seems to be particularly good. Mind you it's quite a long journey from the satellite, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised.
It confirms the Ben is on it at:

I think every time I ran past a camera it was pointing in a different direction!
Don't forget. Wednesday evening 7-8pm BBC2 Scotland.
