Seriously, Anti, that's bad news and after my experience with PF earlier this year I can sympathise. It does seem to flare up again; after 5 months clear, I started feeling it again too last week. Keep us posted on what your experts advise.
Nasty slip yesterday dropping off Bleaklow during Tanky's, something went pop on the outside of the left knee, run (run, I wish!!!) in from rain gauge to Edale was none too pleasent....ascent up to Kinder naye probs but unable to run rest of the way and reduced a semi hobble...lots of time lost..!!!
Bloody painful today...ice, ibuprofen and self pity......being the order of today!
Thats the game we play!
Tough luck Phil.
Didn't get chance to have a proper catch up on Sunday, too much to do.
Drop me a PM when you are better and you can take me for a run or don't forget the Bradfield Boundary run on the 27th I'm doing it all but come and join in for the middle bit.
Ian
Today the back of my left knee is killing!
Not sure how i did it because ive not run in over a week now - but at work last night we had to work like lunaticts to get all the drinks onto the shelfs before the next delivery came in so i think i may have done something:confused:....
I think what may have caused it is for example, if a 12-pack of 2 litre pepsi is on a rack and its above my head, i will lift it off and use my knee to sort of cusion it. Im sure we've all done things like that, but i think doing it all night must be causing it?
Its one bloody thing after another - first my right ITB, then my left ITB was giving me some trouble, now its the back of my knee.
Its doing my nut it!
Left shoulder is killing me - even having to do some gear changes with my right (in the car - not the bike). Must have slept on it funny.:(
Gone over on my ankle again, during Leg 4 of the Calderdale. This is becoming anoying now, I suspect it will be okay by Saturday but it keeps happening. I'll do alternatives and go on a wobble board but thats not going to make me a good descender!
I'm sure I need to do more practice decending not less. There was a time when I wasn't bad but I've done less as I've picked up injuries. Now when I descending at race pace on rough steep ground I feel tense, worrying about busting my ankle again.... sure enough it goes.
Well today's injury has totally buggered me up having to get round the ruddy house with the aid of crutches now. Can't remember the last time I had to use these probably in my footballing days.
Yes what a start to the year - The same as last year only I got injured a day or two earlier than last year.
I have gone over on my ankle to the point I could not put any weight at all on it. I have done a similar thing before and it feels like I have badly twisted or strained my ankle ligaments thankfully don't think they are torn which I have had many years ago. Hoping some rest, ice etc will do the trick?
The worst part was trying to hobble home for about half a mile and took me 25 mins. I usuallly carry my mobile just in case but not today I certainly will in the future.
On a positive note gotta be ready for Helsby Four Villages Half Marathon on 18 Jan. :)
twisted my knee breaking up a fight at New Years Eve party :( gonna bang their heads together when I see them at training night tomorrow
Aww Pinno, have you been doing the R.I.C.E techniques on your foot?
Aww Rhino its your birthday innit, you must be fed up!
My left Achilles is twanging, pinging, throbbing and generally shouting for a night off. Glad i didn't race last night now!
Still no running for me hope I may be able to do some light jogging by Monday??? Brassed off not doing anything.
I seem to have knackered my foot with a new pair of trainers - maybe the trainers had nothing to do with it but I reckon it's the reason. Outside edge of my foot feels badly bruised, although nothing actually looks bruised. Ran the county cross on Saturday which seems to have aggravated it even more.
The endless cycle of "do nothing-run a bit-train properly-get injured" continues.
Have a look at Peroneal Tendons. Sounds similar to mine.

Left mine a bit long and now no running till ?????? for me. Don't make same mistake. Avoid the knife! :(
:mad:left calve twanged again last night when running, bloody thing
The last time I wore my proper 'cushioned' adidas road running shoes was in last years Coniston 14. At the end of the race the arch of my right foot was excrutiatingly painful. I was wearing an ankle support at the time but that never caused a problem in my fell shoes. I was limping for like two days. Road running shoes are obviously just crap :D.
If I run roads now I tend to wear my Salomon trail shoes.
Can anyone remember when they were beginner runners? i noticed past 2 weeks, when i run i have a sore ribcage, this i am assuming is normal?
You're just not used to breathing so deeply/heavily. Keep going!
I occasionally suffer from this but only when it's really cold. When the weather warms up a bit it never seems to be a problem.
More recently I have worn an extra layer such as a t shirt over a base layer and have found this helps a lot.
Hope it clears up soon.
Barb wire finger injury tonight up some Yorkshire fell looking for a giant cross!
Thank you both Skenn and FellG
I do have 3 layers on, probably cos it is cold, but i not give up, have to keep warm...
Just found that my uni has an 'Injury and Rehabilitation Clinic'. Just emailed them and told them about me knee and what they can offer. Might be free:rolleyes:
See the doc Al. Don't do more damage. My old man would say "you only get one set of knees". He ran a lot of marathons in the early eighties and lots of football in the seventies, his knees are shafted.
