Sorted then, I am back training so should be well on the way by feb. What leg will we be doing, any ideas , i hope we take over from or hand over to Merrylegs I knew he had a crosser but not in the dress code sense, that will be a sight:eek:
I hope to enter the Long Mynd Valleys race again next feb also ,,,, anyone else interested it is a brill race.......come on ML you know it makes sense!!!!
re Pennine Bridleway Relay
I emailed the organiser, and he said that it tends to fill up rapidly after the Calderdale Way relay (which was this weekend just gone)
so if we're going to enter a team, I think we need to do it soon...
Pennine Bridleway Relay Possibles:
Amex
Merrylegs
Daz
Ambrosia Kid
Pudgy
Crumblydown
Mrs C
Mrs Amex
Al Fowler (TBC)
emmi (TBC)
we need emmi/Al to find out if their "proper" club needs them...
and we need MORE PEOPLE full stop...
Stick me down for that, no issues with my 1st claim club as there's no hope in hell of them entering it!
Remi nd me when this is. I'd certainly be up for it but if it's in late January it may clash with me annual ice climbing/drinking trip to Scotland
Sorry Daz I still don't know :( I won't be in any elite team that's for sure and will probably only get asked if they need to make up numbers but I can't be any less helpful can I??? sorreeeeeeeeee. As soon as I know anything more I'll let you know.
Do you have to name teams now or can you just enter one anyway?

emmi - so your club expects you to wait around indefinitely, twiddling your thumbs, just in case somebody else lets them down, or then maybe you don't get to run at all? nice.
we could enter a team now, and firm up the names as we go along, but we still have to decide whether it's going to be an single-gender or a mixed team
if we put in a mixed, some blokes are going to have to drop out
if we put in a blokes-only, then lady-Ponies will be disappointed
if we put in 2 teams (1-mixed, 1-blokes), we're going to need a few more volunteers sooner rather than later, to be confident of raising 20 people...

Deejay (barring clash with prior engagement)

If you put in a blokes team, and a bird... I mean lady-pony runs who's going to complain? Could understand if it's a mixed team and it's all blokes, but not the other way round?
Do you need to order up some more vests to get 10 runners kitted out? I'll have one if theres one going. Mind you, a bloke wearing a pink pony vest will probably get called a girl anyway!
C'mon all you anonymous Ponies, and where's the speed merchants Fellmonster and The Master, get your MANbags packed for this:cool:
right - Pennine Bridleway Relay Update
spoke to organiser (Graham Wright) via email and:
1) "An open team can comprise any combination of men and ladies, providing it does not comprise 5 men and 5 ladies as it then becomes a mixed team."
which is good
2) "online entry allows you to revisit and log in at any time to alter your team be it the category or pairings on the legs etc."
which is very good, meaning we can change between Open and Mixed at our whim!
3) "The rule re wearing club vests is only there to assist the marshals at the changeovers to identify the pairings incoming and can be waived in a case like yours."
which basically means we can wear any old assortment of vests, cos they know what a motley crew we are!
So... how's about I go ahead and enter one team?
anyone DEFINITE - PM me with your real name, so I can allocate slots on a first-come-first-served basis
we can re-jig the actual leg-allocations/pairings at our leisure
and if we get significantly more than 10 volunteers, we can think about putting in a second team!
RESPECT to Daztheslug
A lad who gets things done. Well don that man:):):)
Lets hope the rest of the ponies dont let him down:mad:
Hi Daz.
I've been watching this thread develop and am definitely up for a go at this. Well done for your efforts so far!!:)
Unfortunately I am a really slow runner (and havent run since Thieveley Pike, but there's plenty of time to train!) so would be quite willing to act as a reserve or step aside for a quicker 'athlete'!
If I ran I would need a comparably slow partner.
I'll even give you a hand on the day with logistics/ lifts if that is more useful.
I have run as a pony at the Stanbury Splash, so I have me own vest! :D
Regards
Nelly
ps I have sent you a pm
Feck is it a race?? oh well me and mrs amex in will PM now xxx
Deejay - Unlucky! looks like you will be missing the event of the season ;)
Nelly - I wouldn't worry about being too slow - you were 2 and a half mins ahead of me at Stanbury Splash for a start!
Pennine Bridleway Relayers:
1) Daz
2) Crumblydown
3) Mrs C
4) Marcel
5) Merrylegs
6) Amex
7) Mrs Amex
8) Ambrosia Kid - needs to confirm with a PM...
9) Pudgy - needs to confirm with a PM...
10) Dominion - needs to confirm with a PM...
Nelly - 1st reserve
keep 'em coming all you lurkers - I bet we can raise 2 teams...
WE'RE IN! :D
just entered team "Fell Ponies" and started throwing names into slots - they can be re-jigged as often as we like...
dom's confirmed
just waiting for Ambrosia Kid and Pudgy - does anybody know if they're about/away at the moment...?
I assume for optimum team pace, it's better to pair people with roughly equal ability - not quite sure how we decide that...?
Also, we might want to think about which legs we fancy
[bearing in mind that I have already bagsied one of the Leg 5 slots :o ]
Leg 1: 8.5M/1361ft (Leg record= 55.11)
Leg 2: 12.5M/1560ft (Leg record= 1.16.17) "longest and possibly toughest"
Leg 3: 9.0M/1570ft (Leg record= 58.32) "not longest, but most amount of climb with “sting in tail “ and toughest climb of whole route!"
Leg 4: 5.5M/ 753ft (Leg record= 34.48) "shortest leg with least amount of climb and should suit the speed merchants"
Leg 5: 11.0M/1390ft (Leg record= 58.26) includes "mega long climb from Broadley to Top of Leach"
Looking at that, i wouldn't mind leg 2 or 3, with a mid pack sort of partner, or if its someone faster than me, they must have a nice bum:D
And if anyone asks me about sex, i'll say, go on then you silver tongued b@st@rd you:eek:

Assuming it's a certain teacher who asks that would be the right answer.;)
