It was indeed very full but a good event. Shame not to have the snow like there was in 2 years ago - we had flooded fields instead. Plus the odd bit of hail on the tops. And wind. Superb stew at the finish. Hope you recover soon Nick.

I can recommend the beer on the Real Ale Ramble :D. Your entry wrist band has removable tags on which are 'redeemable' at the checkpoints for beer, or even a burger or food en route (I stuck with the beer ;)).
If you don't use them on the event, then still redeemable in the pub at the finish.
Now that's what I call a good idea, we shall return.
Trollers or Haworth Hobble - my birthday falls in between and I can't decide which to do.
Don't really want to do both as I only have the kids at weekend and it would be nice to go away with them for one of the weekends.
Plusses and minuses for each???
Ever got your name under every single last post in a given moment. This is my momentary monopoly :D
It looks like I'll be back on Troller's next year. Add me to the list please. I love that event.
Thanks Drunken. Deafness and lung congestion are the legacy, but apart from that I'm better thanks. I need to get back to some running now. The blessing in disguise is that my business trip had to be postponed so I can do Rudolph's Romp again. Let's hope they will allow me to reapply, having withdrawn my entry.
This thread is turning into the Trollers Trot Appreciation Society. Still it is a great event, even better than Rombalds. Even the last few tired miles along the river into a strong headwind of the last couple of years can't dampen my enthusiasm. Can I change my "very likely" to do into definite.
Blimey, it'd be easier to ask who isn't doing it!

Looks like it's going to be the Trollers then (unless someone's going to speak up in favour of the Hobble). My first thoughts were for this anyway as I love the area and have no real idea about the Hobble.:o
Right im doing the 12 :)
and the wuthering hike
Just read through last few pages and someone asked about the 4 Inns.
It's a terrific event in teams of 3 or 4. Quite stringent kit requirements (kisu/bothy bag (big enough for the team) and a sleeping bag between the team as team kit plus individual requirements as well) but well organised inc. accomodation at start and finish. Quite tough 43-ish miles 'tween Holmebridge and Buxton - winning team this year (09) in about 7 hrs 20 mins or so. We did 11 hours on the nose. Slowest are the walkers in about 22 hours or thereabouts.
I did it as a mere sprog as a walker and then returned as a runner 30+ years later!

This does seem to be a good all round event. Nothing too harsh about it, runnable, scenic, variable scenery and still hard work at times. I remember on a thread elsewhere somebody was saying about there top 10 fave events, I put one up and pretty sure this was top. That was a few years ago after only one go at it, but last year didn't dampen my enthusiasm. Not sure if still my fave, but way up there. Along with Romp and Stride this appears on my plan for each year months in advance.
Romp, Stride and Trot :D
I've scanned some rudolph's romp maps with highlighted route if it helps. Drop me a mail. I think route descrips have been emailed tonight so you should have those if your doing.
Christmas Cracker (near Rhayader) this Saturday, we shall be there doing something.
Could someone kindly post a link to the TT 2010 application page please ? I'm being a complete numpty & cannot find it !
Cheers
Wensleydale Wedge results for those interested http://www.ldwa.org.uk/lgt/web_page.php?c=25&p=702
Storming run at the Wedge Chris! You finished around the same time as some of the other guys who travelled from Hull, were you their guide for the day per chance? or is that just coincedence, I'm fairly sure they didn't know the route. When a few of them said they'd ran 3.48 and 3.53 I knew that was good but didn't realise how far up the field that put them. I even managed top 35 for my modest effort.
:Being a local yocal I guess I'll be first to report from Rudolph's Romp.
Good day for it, the rain had stopped by this morning, the sun was out and the wind wasn't near as bad as predicted and barely felt it till second half. So nothing worse than muddy conditions and where isn't at this time of the year? Ticked the 24.5m course off in 6m increments as I knew the first 12 were easier and I wanted to build a cushion going into the hillier second half. Did a good job with pace getting to 12 and the major "fill your boots" food stop in 1:49. Strong in the second half too, grinding steadily up the longer drags and even ran up most of the closing miles' steep drags. Got around in 3:48. Felt stronger today than have for a while. I think the steadier efforts at Burley Bridge and Wedge have eased me back in.
Caught up with Chris afterwards, how did you get on Tussockface? Anybody else on here do it? For anybody interested next year they had a bumper turnout this year (400+?) so mentioned it may be entry in advance next time.
Next up for me, probably Wheeldale Tandem and/or Filey Flyer in Jan, Rombalds in early Feb, and the "forum choice" Trollers trot in March. No doubt I'll squeeze a few more in too.
Hard work done.... now its....
Beer o'clock. Come on tigers! :D
We must have been at Sancton at about the same time, Drunkeneuphoria. I arrived at the barn just inside 1:50.
However, I haven't done a long LDWA event for 3 months and as time went on I was reduced to jogging a bit, cramping a bit, walking a bit. Got in just under the 4 and a half hour mark and was quite happy with that.
What a glorious day! Great scenery, and mild and sunny too. That was as well, because I accidentally left all my gear at home and had to run sans backpack. That meant no body cover, gloves, hat, cup, nuun tablets, jelly babies, map, vaseline, etc etc.
Won't make that mistake again...:o
Just had an e-mail from the organiser, £2000 was raised for the Yorks Air
Ambulance and Mountain Rescue , although Hull mountain rescue team can't
be all that busy
Also said results attached but not there !
I'll post results up a bit later.
Oh, just spotted the link myself! Yer tis:

Cheers TF, mad week and I was going to put results from email online somewhere. Didn't realise they were onsite otherwise would have done sooner.
Well, thats it for me till January.... too much beer at this time of year to take on a long run, though not to say I'm not open to temptation  I'll probably just revert to the shorter cross country or fell runs where I can get within a few mins of a good time with a hangover.
just taking Lady Slugge off the list
Slug Family Cottage Weekend though, so she'll be there along with the sluglets, cheering from the sidelines :p
