Yeah it is Ian.
And thanks DT, one of my faves so far this year.
If only my phones battery lasted more than 10 mins taking pictures I'd have lots to show..

My account of a run over the Bowland Fells from Lancaster to Bentham (including a worrying amount of road running!): http://www.samharrison-ml.co.uk/blog...ia-wards-stone
Sam, you can make that more of an off-road route in several ways:-
Once above the x-roads at Quernmore, take the public footpath L up Rowten Brook farm lane, through the farm and up Clougha, then the "ridge" to Grit Fell to pick up your route to Ward's Stone. Once over Ward's Stone, continue your route along the fence line and over Wolfhole Crag then L down another fence line to cross the Hornby Road / Salter Fell Track at "The County Gate" and up to the summit of White Hill. Off White Hill cross the high point of the road at Cross o' Greet and up to Great Harlow then L down the fence line and over Burn Moor. Swing another L across Loftshaw Moss (Bowlands best bog!!) and hit the Cross o' Greet road by the Great Stone of Four Stones. It's only about a mile on the road down to Bentham station.
It used to be the "run home" for a prominent, fell-running prof at LUniversity when he lived in the environs of Bentham.

Cyclops, lovely read. Well scribed in your unique style.
I have been coming out of hibernation this month too, ramping up from 2 runs a week to 4-5.
Did a long (20 mile) 5-6 hour Sunday run 2 weeks ago from my door (Home-Wildbank-Harridge-Chew-Blackhil-Crowden- Tintwhisle-Home).
It was a stretch, loved it but walked the last mile up cow lane.
Have been doing 4 runs per week for last month so feeling ready to step up.
Did 3 days in May (slowly) this weekend and feeling rejuvenated off the back of it.
Would love to reccie Edale Skyline with you over next 2 months if apt - will be in touch.
Congratulations on your new PT credentials too!
Thats great stuff cyclops. Here's my run around the 3 Peaks from Saturday
Thanks OB1, great you're getting back out and enjoying it. Yes, defo for the Edale Skyline recce sometime, particularly the second half. I know the route, having done all of in in parts during various runs but I've never done the second half as one run. Not worried about first half for nav purposes. I don't actually have much weekend time to get over there though....are you free weekdays anytime? My plan for a second half recce would be to park in Edale and 'simulate' the first half with the climb up to Mam Nick!
What a great day for you....and being able to do that route from your doorstep, most envious! though, I do now know who to call upon for a route guide and/or a brew after my run round. this is on my list for this year!
Great write up and super photos, love the one of Harry "Cruising" :)
Boff's brilliant blog
Thanks Daleside for highlighting this
