Snow was patchy.. in fact far less on the tops then there was in Ballater on the way back..
But when there was bands across the hillside I had to use crampons.. studs just weren't biting at all and its so solid you'll go fast should you slip..

11 and a bit miles. Just under 2000ft of up.
Upper Derwent Valley. Fairholmes-along Derwent reservoir-then up to Lost Lad, Back Tor, cakes of bread etc before dropping down to the viaduct then Crook Hill and back to Fairholmes via Lockerbrook.
I'm pooped.
Great route there VR!
Hill reps yesterday, but got called home after a warm up and 2 so just 4km and 130m climb.
Short road run after dropping off a car post trigger this morning, 6km and about 100m climb. Poorly wife and occasionally insomniac toddler allowing, hoping to get a decent run this evening.
Coniston fell race route. Superb views from Wetherlam just after dawn, a few snow flurries later on. Managed to take a reasonable line off Coniston as well.
Good weekend. 12 miles / 2,000 ft yesterday from home and a lovely 10 miles / 2,000 ft today in Bowland. Not far off 50 miles for the week :closed:
2 miles to Hayfield then Kinder Downfall recce and then back again. Worst stitch I've ever had, but managed to turn in a reasonable time. A lot of room for improvement though!! Lovely day, feeling nicely worked now.
Not much time today, 6miles, 3 at threshold pace, 2 fartlek. 1 recovery.
Thank you. Y'know what though? If I type Black Tor instead of Back one more time I'm gonna slap myself. I think it's a subconcious thing due to White Tor.
Sore neck today.. 3 miles early am as a loosener.. still sore.. 5.5 at lunch before united game.. still sore.. 7 tonight.. all on the roads.. steady pace..
