Mind you it was a country fair race, and there wasn't much competition (most of them were kids, a few parents in it). I hesitated a bit over the start and most of the field were half way up the hill before I got going. Still managed to get to the top before them and was down on the descent well ahead.
Felt a bit harsh afterwards after seeing some of the kids coming in having run hard, and there being no real competition, I told them to give my prize to the first kid that had crossed the line, and shook all the finishers hands, it was a bit more rewarding, just nice to come first for once!!
