Just received an email from the organisers stating there intentions to run the event as long as they can get the marshals to the CPs and Mytholmroyd is accessible!
Bringing snow shoes just in case :)
Snow on the hills, but not too bad, and the roads are clear.
I'm in :D - the majority of those on the entry list appear to have a place now, thanks to those who've dropped out telling the organisers.
Did you find substitutions, Dan and Mountain Goatess?
Starting to get packed for tomorrow, but I've no idea whether I'll get to the start. We've had 3 inches of snow here, but it's stopped now. If it stays that way I should be able to get to my mum's in Burnley this evening. Then I just hope I can get through to Mytholmroyd in the morning. The forecast on the met office website predicts heavy snow all morning tomorrow for the Calder Valley at the moment.
I've packed everything...just in case! :)
Santa brought me some Kahtoola microspikes for Christmas. Might get the chance to use them...!
Hi Bill,
Got this yesterday so looks like im in.
Hi Dan – the situation has changed (sorry):
LAST MINUTE ENTRANTS – not on waiting list
We are now in a position to be able to guarantee you a starting number on the day, so please turn up and report to Registration, where you will be told what you need to do next. Some of you will have a number due to last minute withdrawals, the rest will have to wait until the no-shows become apparent, at 8am. A time allowance will be given for any starting late.
Please visit the website for full details: http://www.alangreenwood.biz/index.html
It will help if you would kindly download and complete an Entry Form (on the website) and also bring the correct money. Cheque or cash - £9
Bulletins will also be posted on the website of current conditions, bearing in mind the weather forecast. The event will go ahead, excepting dire circumstances.
Regards,
Carole
Does anyone know the condition of Blackstone edge road?...thinking it might be better to stick to the main road through Hebden Bridge to get there?
Really sorry to be missing this .... best not though, am just on the rebound from some foul bug and am not on top form. Have a good day out peeps :)
Any snow over that way?
Just back from a run up Norland, a few miles down the valley from the Hebden route. About an inch of soft snow on the tops - it hasn't been lying long, so hasn't become too compacted and icy on the paths and trails yet. Still a bit more coming down but slowly and gently. It's a winter wonderland out there!
The last email from the organisers talked about it being windy and so need to keep warm etc. How many layers are people intending to wear - I was going to wear 3 ; base layer, middle layer, then waterproof. Will that be enough?
No need to carry food (apart from emergency rations)

Think I should be ok with the clothing, then.
I can never forget that CP 3 ; truly wondrous. Even as a veggie I can appreciate the appeal of dripping sandwiches (no butter). They even specify the brand of pickle - such attention to detail!
trying to cobble together what I can- almost all my stuff is our van which is still being 'recovered' back from France. So sons/2nd hand shoes, no thick tights, odd range of thermals , sons winter buff, old cycling gloves...... Just as well that I wasn't going for a record time! Have decided to take a camera and try to have fun instead.
I may reconsider.
If I had my way all runners would be tested for traces of dripping on there lips, chins, fingers etc and anyone 'failing' the test should be sent back round to complete the challenge properly
Hi all, Anyone doing this from the Bolton area? My mate is DNSing so going on my tod now. Be good to car share if poss?
Never had Dripping Butties-reckon it sounds like perfect fuel for tomorrow..
The early years of The Hebden.

See you tomorrow :D
The latest bulletin from Mr Greenwood:
The Hebden – Weather Friday 19.00
We had a dull day in Mytholmroyd with no snow until 4.00pm but with very cold winds. Since 4.00pm it has snowed but not heavily and the snow is very fine and over a period of 3 hours left a coating of about 1 inch at valley level. There will probably be more snow at higher levels. It continues to snow with the same light flurries. We have been able to access all our checkpoints except CP4 where we have made arrangements with a friendly resident to get us up there. All the bus routes are currently free of snow and I saw several gritters on my journey home So in accordance with our earlier statement we have set up the hall to start the event as planned at 8.00am.
It cannot be emphasised enough that the wind is extremely cold and sufficient clothing should be carried or worn to keep you warm in case of emergency. There are some areas with ice which could be dangerous if you are not taking care but in general it should be soft virgin snow.
Have an enjoyable day. Hopefully if the forecast is correct the snow will clear during Saturday.
Mudclaws?
Hokas?
I'd like to say a big thank you to Alan, Carole and all the team for putting on another fabulous Hebden 22. The food at the checkpoints and at the end was first class as always. I wasn't sure if I could make it as our road was covered in snow last night but it was all systems go this morning when I looked out and saw it was clear. Thanks to all the fast boys and girls who cut a good path through the snow drifts especially on the second half, it made it a lot easier for us slow coaches!!
Not as bad as I thought underfoot although I changed to shorter run due to lack of fitness....great day out.
I would echo Mrs Stagger, a brilliant day out and the marshalls were even better than ever this year! Please pass on my thanks to all the helpers and marshalls especially those stood in the cold. The food, drink and encouragement they give is much appreciated from start to finish. I knocked 16 minutes off last year's time, very pleased.
Great to see you again Nippersmith. You did brilliantly considering you've been injured. Hopefully see you again soon.
Brilliant as ever. John and Carol really know how to organise an event (and a kitchen!)
Thanks Linda, see you soon, yep!
Well Done all, another good un missed, good running by all in the conditions, well ard:wink:
I right enjoyed watching, and well done everyone. Great pics on Sport Sunday website, buy them, that man was proper frozen.
