Just back from a run up Norland, a few miles down the valley from the Hebden route. About an inch of soft snow on the tops - it hasn't been lying long, so hasn't become too compacted and icy on the paths and trails yet. Still a bit more coming down but slowly and gently. It's a winter wonderland out there!

Yes Bill, my pal is in. We just need a snow plough to get us out of the North East in the morning!

I'm in - the majority of those on the entry list appear to have a place now, thanks to those who've dropped out telling the organisers.

Did you find substitutions, Dan and Mountain Goatess?

The last email from the organisers talked about it being windy and so need to keep warm etc. How many layers are people intending to wear - I was going to wear 3 ; base layer, middle layer, then waterproof. Will that be enough?

Merino base-layer, heavy polypropylene thermal (thicker than a Helly and brushed inside) and probably OMM smock for me. Wool socks, thickest tights, decent gloves , a couple of Buffs and a hat (obviously! ). See you tomorrow

No need to carry food (apart from emergency rations)

Think I should be ok with the clothing, then.

I can never forget that CP 3 ; truly wondrous. Even as a veggie I can appreciate the appeal of dripping sandwiches (no butter). They even specify the brand of pickle - such attention to detail!

trying to cobble together what I can- almost all my stuff is our van which is still being 'recovered' back from France. So sons/2nd hand shoes, no thick tights, odd range of thermals , sons winter buff, old cycling gloves...... Just as well that I wasn't going for a record time! Have decided to take a camera and try to have fun instead.
