Re: Kendal Winter League 2008
An excellent series. Love the organisation (the entire course flagged!!!) & not put off after colliding with a Kendal U17 runner chasing after a ball and going a*** over t** on the road!!!........just as I was about to catch the runner infront....maybe!!!???
Waiting a bit for the results doesnt worry me, but it just means my clubs Press Sec may have to submit my time the week after. No hardship!
Wish I could do the whole Series!
Well done
Re: Kendal Winter League 2008
Really enjoyed it on sunday. Not bothered about the results either.
Re: Kendal Winter League 2008
I see the comments regarding the results have now been removed from Wharefdale's website.
I didn't want to cause any grief by highlighting the issue, I just felt the comments were uncalled for.
Looking forward to Fairmile on Sunday. Hill reps tonight in preperation, me thinks.

The important thing is that the races are well organised and enjoyable for both runners and organisers. Results will follow.
Proper hill racing at Fairmile next and a forecast for snow!!
Hi HH Chair,
We do have a very enthusiastic webmaster - and on this ocassion (and a late evening posting) he let his keeness to post news and results get the better of him! I hope everyone who read the page also read my report of the race (linked from there) where you can see my write up include...
Perennial and sincere thanks to the Helm Hillers for laying on yet another good race in their excellent series. Cheers folk!
All of us at Wharfedale hold this view - including our webmaster!

We'd flagged our concerns last night and our webmaster readily agreed that the comments were rather harsh and uncalled for. Very rare (1st time ever!) for an error like this. No grief caused...or lasting feeling we hope.
Yes, Fairmile last year was the last race I beat Grifter at - so with the forecast snow I'm well looking forward to it too! ;)
The Wharfedale gang'll be there again :) (...but we think Watto's still crocked :( )
Re: Kendal Winter League 2008
Thanks to the Wharfedale guys for all the positive comments.
We've all got used to getting our results either on the finish line, at the post-race presentation, or on the web before we get home. Well done to the organisers who do this; it takes a lot of resources.
I know that most people appreciate how much goes into organising a simple event such as a Winter League race. But it wont do any harm to run through a typical day for an organiser. For Birkrigg, with its four agegroup courses, it takes about an hour and a half to flag the routes. Taking entries an hour, and running the four races about 2 hours. After another 90 minutes to collect the flags you are looking at about 6 hours work. If you can get someone to take entries while you are flagging then you can get it down to 5 hours. Its a great way to spend a day out in the countryside.
The Helm Hill team have done a wonderful job of spreading the load this year, with a lot of new organisers coming on board. Knowing that it takes up to a further two hours to collate the results and type up I have made a point of saying that there is absolutely no rush to get the results out on the day.
So thanks for bearing with us regards the results. If anyone finds themself in a life or death situation on a Sunday night because they don't know who came 27th then let me know. :)
Enough of that. I'm really looking forward to Sunday at Fairmile. Will Simon Barnby return to go one better than last year, and can the Addison cousins continue their good form. Watch this space...
Re: Kendal Winter League 2008
Cheers for your comments Stick,
Look forward to seeing all the Wharefdale crew out in force at Fairmile.
No bad feeling at all as far as I'm concerned. Matter closed.
I'll be helping with the organising on Sunday, so come and say hello.
I've hunted the sledge out too, just in case. Had it over a year now and never had the chance to use it.
Five day forecast for Sedbergh: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=2439
Bring it on!
Re: Kendal Winter League 2008
Sledges are very much allowed on Sunday. As long as you carry it up with you. :)
Re: Kendal Winter League 2008
Birkrigg Common results
See you all on Sunday.
Re: Kendal Winter League 2008
I like this results format, with full results shown rather than split results for boys & girls.

Perhaps you can carry my sledge, and the sledges of all the other runners. That way we might get somewhere near to keeping up with you on the climb.
