got train from bamford to edale and ran back via ringing roger and win hill - absolutely jiggered (i blame the hoegarden).
does anyone know why ringing roger is called ringing roger? (please feel free to make up answers)
ps slippery stones you doing graves park CX?
ah thanks - sounds very plausible and doesn't involve rogering or wringing
First run since going over on ankle 10days ago. 45mins or so in Strid Woods :)
I've done some more running today! Just 50 minutes over the local hill and moors - it's all coming back to me.
Nice early run (07-45) over Arthurs seat here in, now raining, Edinburgh :(
great..only saw a couple of other folks..so largely had the place to myself :D:D
First of Nicky's winter series last night. Just over 6m from Bolsterstone. Pipped to the post by Mr Bell, he flew past on the last 1/2mile uphill stretch. 44m 21s for me, a good 6mins quicker than the same race last winter.
Some progress there....
Ran up to Bolton Abbey and back along the river, perhaps 7miles. Saw a kingfisher so pleased I went out
12 x 200m, reps on grass, 1 min recovery
14 mile flat trail run.
8 miles on the Simonside hills.
Club run out from the Swan. Headtorches needed for return back to Addingham and circuit of duckpond
Good 2 hr leg session in the hotel gym:
Bike warm up
Long stretching(inc. ITB roller work, this time using a barbell.Ow.)
1 legged wobble board action
Weights on each muscle grp (inc. ad&abductors)
Squats & lunges
Plyometrics, box jumps, etc.
Hill blast on bike
Another long bit of stretching.
Won't be walking for rest of week! :D
A bit over 1 1/2 hrs last night on roads inc my usual - hill reps up a steep road (4 x 1mile & ~500ft). Feel A OK today.
Tried to do the route of the long mynd valleys race yesturday . Its a winter race and when I tried to run it yesturday the route was all over run with braken so it took me more than an hour longer than when I did the race in Feb . FOUR hours ! By the time I'd got back I was in a mess . I really sruggled to muster the energy to go to the pub :D
circuits last night, 10k this am with sit ups, squats pressups and burpees enroute
Skipton Bowl road run with club mates followed by light recovery session in Narrowboat; marvellous
15K Off road in parkland/forrestry
Get this -left home in glorious sunshine and clear blue sky this morning. Set off for Holme (20mins away) and as I got nearer I could see Holme Moss and surrounding hills shrouded in cloud. Did my 3hr run (based on Crowden loop with variations) in perpetual fog, not a hint of sun or it clearing. Set off for home in the car and after 10mins was back in the sun. Bloomin' marvellous!
Jodg
Did my 1st longer run above Dovestones & likewise on the ridge visibilty wasn't up to much - quite atmospheric tho' & good to be out in them thar hills for the 1st time in 6 months.
easy 5km road run yesterday and today.legs are wrecked from scafell pike
does 25 min in round meersbrook park with the dog count? i'm recovering from the stress of supporting the three peaks cyclocross.
i think the cyclist and supporter could train together in special 3pcx block sessions
block 1: cyclist cycles to win hill [supporter drives to win hill in van or car they never normally drive and practises parallel parking between cones - as the weeks go on the cones get closer and the route to the hill gets more and more convoluted, narrow and busy]
block 2: hill reps - cyclist carries bike, supporter carries spare wheels, spare bike, drinks and gels
Yesterday - Snake road summit to Crowden via Wild Boar Cough, then up to Black Hill and back to Snake summit via Tanky's route. 21.5 miles and 3,700 ft ascent with my OMM partner.
Even 10k is a slog....when will it get better she asks??? :(
