7.7 miles in 56-28
Generally indicative of an efficient heart muscle in athletes but quite individual. Some non athletes have low resting rates and some athletes have RHR of 60+. Mine is usually 39-44 when I am fit so if you are in tune with your own body it can be a good guide to check for over training/illness and the like. Seem to remember discussion on here but not sure if it had its own thread......Big Mig Indurain (cyclist) had a RHR of 28.
A not very exciting 90 mins on roads. Need to start ramping up the miles now...
I ran Tuesday night, having not run either Saturday or Sunday in an effort to shift a cold and...... I was brilliant  even though I say it myself. An 8 mile off roader with really only a couple of mild climbs but gloriously wet and muddy.
Just goes to show what a difference a timely break can make.
I suspect that this was the first weekend that I haven't run since March and the first break from what was in the region of 30-40 miles week in and week out since March too. My stamina and ability to avoid cramp have improved massively on the back of this but I was getting into a bad habit of running at my 'long slog' pace, no matter what.
I enjoy running too much to have breaks like that on purpose but its nice to realise that you might be faster than you thought you were :)
:D
I agree! Been doing similar thing, just running circa 40-50 miles a week, and ending up being able to run slowly for miles! Had no speed.
Brought back my HRM after a long absence and found that I am running at same speed as before but my heart rate had dropped by about 10 beats per minute. Thought I had no speed but in reality I was just being lazy:o
Did 8.5 miles with my mate by the river . Added loops into our normal route, felt ok . Pleased with recovery from 10k. still building mileage, will do 37 this week.
sorry just noticed your reply. resting pulse is a good way of monitoring if u are overdoing it. if your usual rp is 45, then if it gets to 50 , time to ease back a bit. It's a handy way of self monitoring.
I might have a go at a 3.3 mile fell race  on Saturday - from Gargrave, up Sharp Haw and back down - which is bound to cause me massive pain. Short runs like that bring out the mad dasher in me but, if nothing else and assuming I manage to keep breathing, it should be another step in my new campaign (for this week only :) ) to speed up.
I did five miles of flat off road yesterday after two days off - this was following a three hour mountain bike slog on Sunday and I was shagged. This weekend I'm off the the Cotswolds for a long Saturday off road ride with an old friend who now lives in Shropshire. Looking forward to it; bike is tuned and ready to go, energy bars packed, camelbak at the ready! Let's hope the rain holds off.
10 mile on trails and tracks and a few roads. Lovely to be able to run and not sweat myself to death!!!!!
