managed to upload a video of the river on the Trunce FB page

Ropes are out. A handrail, if needed, on top crossing and a grab rope 3 or 4 metres downstream of bottom stepping stones if needed. As IDP has said, the levels have dropped slightly since yesterday, still deep enough in a couple of places to titilate the old wedding tackle but my legs are not that long. For those who have registered with the Trunce over the last 3 dryish years this will be exciting.
Serious business first. Respect due to the chap who put a handy rope in on the 2nd river crossing

Now on to the funny stuff.................

"Guess who" and Miss Trunce 2012 wet t-shirt competitions tomorrow...............................:w00t:
The guy with the rope on image one above is Barry Needle (Bionic Bazza) the man that I aspire to be like. A nicer person you will never meet. Ex mountain rescue (Woodhead Team) mountaineer (1st man on either Nun or Kun in 1982), venture scout leader, carer for a disabled sister and thoroughly nice person.
Good picture of Tigger (IDP) looks as though it was a cold bath.
Good turnout tonight considering the conditions and glad everyone has returned safely. Please remember that if you retire for any reason you must report to the finish to avoid any unnecessary panic and trips back to Old Mill Lane and wade through the river, in my best shoes, to find out the injured party has been picked up and gone home.
aye Barry is a sound bloke. Also does alot with DofE and still trains very hard on the hills near my house.
as to the swim, only justice after my photos from 2007.
water was surprisingly warm or was I hot!. feet just went from underneath me as I jumped in.
Kept looking over my shoulder for Mick but heard he'd retired with a calf injury, hope he's ok.
Brilliant photos! My chocolate lab was cheering everyone on at the 1st river crossing. My partner had to keep a tight hold on her as she was trying to dive in and rescue everyone. Good fun last night. Thanks for the ropes ;-)
Water level was about a foot lower this morning when I went out to retrieve the ropes. How fickle is nature.
Cracking race last night, first time i've had to contend with the river being like that! Can't wait for the next one!
quality pictures from Flaming photography.

check out my video of the 2nd river crossing on you tube . type in trunce 3 2012 fellrunning.
results are up but there was a minor problem at the finish so some results may change.
BIG shout for BrentPFR who ran this week instead of doing registration`just over a day after doing the Paddy. luckily for me he didn't beat me as I would have had to retire!!
The stampeding cow was an unexpected health scare on my heart!!!! Neither me nor my partner are showing on the results though. Well done to the guy that did the Paddy Buckley the day before. Mad but fab :-)
top effort from brent last night.....and the cows were a pleasant distraction.
well done plumbum on another top evening
What cows? I never saw any. Must have been too focused on my eyes were screwed up with the effort...[/QUOTE]
It was probably you that set them off Ian ;)

Lets not forget it's the Trunce tomorrow
I've lost 5lbs so hoping it's made a difference, conditions could be a bit slippy but it will be the same for all. bring it on.
Just marked junior course so been to 1st crossing. Most stones under water, but only just, so expect wet feet. Football field OK for parking so long as no wheel spinning. If anyone has problems please help by giving them a push. Don't want to upset Oxspring Football team or Parish Council. Thanks in anticipation.
Missed my 1st one of the season last night :-(. Woke up full of cold and even though hoped till last min it would be ok it was not to be. Still cough, cough, splutter today. Luckily did 11mls round Ladybower on Sunday training for the lake district half so don't feel too bad having to have a couple of days off. Gutted to of missed the Trunce though as I really enjoy that. Hope all had a great run x
I hate football so it wasn't that. Now it may be a problem during the Tour De France :-). Believe me though it wouldn't of been a pb if only me there as I can't breathe well on walking. Would of had to call an ambulance at mile 2 :-/
T'was my first one of the series last night.
I decided just to 'potter round', so got a personal worst (barring my first ever - race 6 - 2009, when I ran it in road-shoes after a two day deluge)
The plus point was that one of our ladies followed me & got a 'PB', overtaking me just before the railway bridge so it was a good day for helping:thumbup:
Plus we had two first-time ladies there, but I didn't see them after the finish, but will find out what they thought
Didn't quite expect there to be still that much water in the Don either!
I'll have to try & pick up the pace a bit at race 8 & get closer to my uisual times
A big thankyou to Lisa Hinchcliffe for not complainng when I used her as my pace-maker. I'm sure I thanked her at the finish, but if not, I'll say it here on open forum
That's the third one in a row I've missed :-(. First one full of cold then on the morning of the 2nd July was involved in an RTA that wrote off both vehicles and didn't do much for me either. Was hoping to be able to be able to play in this one but knee and shoulder not quite right as shown by an embarrassing performance at the Bamford carnival race where i lived up to my forum name :-S, so thought better of it. I will be back at the next one though ...... I hope. Love this race.
First trunce tonight in over a year - really missed them! Not a great time, but hopefully back for no.9 to run a sub-30min. Thanks to Plumbum and all for making it all happen.
Results are up already, massive thanks for Plumbum and Co for their hard work.

And the same sentiments from me too!
We had a reasonable turnout, I brought two of our lady members, & there was another 5 in attendance
A far better run than race 7, at last it seems my injury is behind me & I can focus on regaining my distance & (what passes for...) speed
I got a PB today, although it was only Trunce #2 for me so not surprising really. I managed to find a bit of space and push on a bit this time.
I wish I had discovered these races earlier, they are perfect for a weekday evening after work. Looking forward to the next one!
Some excellent costumes again last night:thumbup:
Enjoyed the race, & I must say that it's probably the first (& only) time I'll beat Phil Hinchcliffe (Smurf in Senior race, could never get near him at Cyclo-Cross either though!)
Managed to knock a bit more time off last race.
One of our girls got 'Joint First' in the Vet Ladies, so well chuffed for her.
Well done Gail
Plus, it'll be interesting to see Richard (Asquiths) photos
Last, & by no means least; a BIG thankyou to Andy & team for arranging/organising the races for another year
See you all next year
Lots of good images there Richard!!
