A defensive buzzard "buzzed" me as I trotted along the grass verge alongside the A66 near Thelkeld.. passed about 6 inches above my head with a whoosh, but no screeching. Buzzed me 4 times to be sure I was seen off. Just made sure I kept moving... away.
For more years than I care to remember, I have been a regular and frequent visitor to the Lakes – weekly, twice weekly or even thrice weekly – and during that time I have covered literally thousands of miles on the fells over the length and breadth of the District. But until last night, I had never seen an eagle in the Lakes. As I started to head towards Causey Pike from Scar Crags, it took off from the crest of the ridge between the two, completely dwarfing the Peregrine that flew up to mob it, and flapped lazily off towards Buttermere. Pure magic!
Came accross a family of Stoats playing in a stream out front of their burrow today...

You are so lucky to have seen those stoats Mr.B and even luckier to have got pics. I'm very envious :) I do see the occasional stoat round here and it's a rare treat (as are the deer that I see more regularly).
How did you know it was a stoat?
