Could I ask everyone to car share where possible as the Moorside have an event in one of the car parks and therefore we will need to be very efficient with spacing this year. There will be car park marshalls there in any event.

Massive thanks to everyone who turned out today, results will be up here soon but we had a record turnout of 216 and a course record from the amazing Jack Ross.
Hope everyone had a good run, we are aware that there are issues with the delays on the stiles and this is something we will discuss to see how or if we can improve upon as it would involve changing the start. Leave it with us.....
Have to say a huge, huge thank you to the marshalls for helping out in the very hot weather and especially the poor people stuck inside dealing with the registration and results. Without people helping it simply wouldn't happen.
Was great to see so many out there tonight and glad you enjoyed the sponge bucket we thought up earlier today :) Hope to see you all next year but I am very glad it is over now :thumbup:

Further to the Moorside closing and some uncertainty over the future of the race I'm pleased to confirm that Wings School, who are now in residence at the old Moorisde, are more than happy for us to run the race again and have offered us any assistance needed.
The race will therefore take place on Wednesday 22nd May at 7.30pm. Entry fee has been reduced to £3.50 as there will be no soup this year.

It seemed like a big issue before I had dinner. Now, not too bad.
Good on the Wings school for letting the race go ahead.
We have found a new start to the Vanessa Chappell route, with NO stiles and hopefully a good 2 mile run before you get to one (don't hold me to the distance though!) This surely has to deal with the bottleneckingand will make you all much happier! It has resulted in the race being longer and is now approximately 6.64m as opposed to 5.60m and there is a higher climb. As the price is cheaper this year though you are definitely getting more for your money :)

Was Vanessa Chappell a local runner? I read somewhere that it's in memory of her but don't know much else. A great race to be honoured by.
AFAIK she was a Stockport Harriers as a Junior, at least that's what I heard from numerous members of the club. I think something very tragic happened to her, but I'm not sure what. I have heard nothing but good things about this race, it's a shame I can't make it.

The race was arranged in memory of Vanessa Chappell who was tragically murdered in Germany. Every year we donate money to the charity of her mothers choice, which is Roy castle Lung Cancer, in memory of her father.

Agree, the new route was much better than last year; who wants to stand around at stiles getting their breath back? Those hills just kept on coming!
Really enjoyed the race last night - definite contender for best local race of the year so far! (weather conditions certainly helped though!)

It was an excellent turnout judging by the results - and so many familiar names there! I'm so sad I had to miss it. I was revved up all day looking forward to it when a raging infection in my finger started to do its best to poison my very being. Now I feel as though I've run 100 miles and just want to go to bed as I wait for the antibiotics to kick in. I had to picket the doctor's surgery at yesterday morning opening to demand urgent attention on pain of (my) death. :closed:
