Wow! I actually managed to earn some points! :-)
Are the points added up over the whole nine races? Is that how it works? How did you do Juicer?
Oooh, I got 4 points. I think I was 17th in my category. Golly, I didn't really 'race' as such, and nattered for ages at the stile. Really wish I could do the whole series now, and see how many points I could add up if I was a bit more competitive. That's quite a little motivational feature. What a great idea! :)
Hey, you got 6 points Matt, in a fantastic time of 28 minutes. Brilliant running! :D
points, pah!!
Thanks Juicer, think it must have been the cold river crossings that made me want to hurry up and finish!!!! Seriously though,a great little race and i'll be there for Trunce 2 in a couple of weeks,so will hopefully see you there.:)
Unfortunately I don't think I will be, Matt. As much as I want to see how many points I can accumulate, there's just a small problem called 'living in Birmingham'. :( We were staying with friends last week, so were able to come along.
I'm definitely going to get to one more in the series though, just to see what I could do if I didn't do the (very enjoyable) nattering at the stile.
Would it be possible for Mr. Plumbum to arrange some entertainment at the said stile?
A brass band perhaps?
Pole dancing by members of Dark Peak? (gents of course)
A game of bingo?
Sodutwo puzzles?
Charades?
Hello! As I haven't spoken to anyone who was there at Trunce 1 as yet, from the looks of the list of finishers there were a fair few folk in attendance.
I recall from past experience that it's tricky at the start along the narrow track, but any congestion problems as (I think) it was a really big number of runners? :(
 Andy im running them from now on rather than doing times!!:p
Trunce 2 - 21st April.
Tommy Craig of Lucozade Sport Performance Team will be there for anyone to talk to about the powers of sports drinks.
Also
Stuart Hale of Accelerate will be there with is wares for anybody to take advantage of.
See you next Monday.:)
See you there plumbum.
Trunce tonight, last run before the PPP and my cold is going fast. Not going to be racing "he say's" just a pacey run round to stretch the legs.
I was that sad person at the stile asking people not to jump the Q.:p
How many of you were there?
300?
There certainly seemed to be quite alot there tonight.your sign was working when i came past anyway toenails, dont know what it was like abit further back when the crowds appeared, another good night, another good race,pb for me,so im happy:D :D
261 Seniors started (1 retired early doors) so 260 finished. Out of that 260 there was 2 runners that hadn't registered, ever :( , so didn't have numbers (which, understandably, threw Martin into a wobbly  ).
Came to work early this morning and sat in the peace and have sorted it out now.
On top of the 261 seniors we had 36 juniors.
Next race the intention is to have the juniors go the opposite way round their loop.
Turn right at the end of the track, instead of straight down to THE stile and come back up to it from the river.
If the timing is right all the seniors will have reached the river before the fast juniors start the ascent.
With 20 to 30 less at the stile on the way out, and fast juniors not jumping the queue, all will go a little smoother, and people will not have 2.5 minutes wait.
What about a handicap system?
People set off in groups of 5 or so every minute.
I know it would mean being there until midnight, but.......
No swearing PlumBum
My 2nd trunce last night. Loving them - more than worth the drive thru from Leeds:) But conscious of being a johnny-come-lately and adding to your numbers headache! Thanks to evreyone involved in making them happen. Was told last night that you get points for every pb. Wish I'd known that before the first one cos I flattered myself with a pretty good time which might be hard to beat, but I guess that's the challenge! Saw some rather dapper looking trunce tshirts last night. Anyone any details?
They were specially designed by a local school kids last year - and were to celebrate the Trunces 40th season - you were eligable for one by running 5 or more races. Mr Piglet has another older one which I believe was for the 30th aniversary - these are the only t-shirts i know of - Mr P??
Looks like im gonna have to run it five times then, cos its the only way i'll get a prize for running a race:D :D
Race two photos online
Those that brought digital files from race one can use them to make their own t-shirts [photo on back race number on front for example]
On a side not one of the residents commented on a number of runners taking a different route to most. The blue line on the photo shows most people route, the red shows where a number of runners at the front of the race came from, not saying cheating - may have been a longer route, but with no marshalls who knows
What Queue;) :D , I guess the lead bunch had gone through but not got to the main pack yet as I got straight through

SSSHHHHHH!!! you don't tell new runners about the PB bonus or they deliberately run slow on there first race.
As piglet says, designed by Penistone Grammar School for the end of the 40th season.
Only a one off I'm afraid, sponsored by Lavender NDT of Penistone.
Any T shirts being handed out are ones owing from last year. Still got about 30 people who qualified but haven't yet got the shirt.
The decent through the woods, blue or red, is personal choice. Its only the bottom end where you go left or right and there is only 1 set of stones at this point.
Obscure 80's chocolate bar reference, if my memory serves me correctly then the red car looses due to his desire to "stuff his face, he eats everything he sees from trucks to prickly trees"! Having dont the trunce several times this hasn't been an affliction i've suffered from yet................. Maybe it because I stick to the blue route!
Any results about yet?:o
