Thanks for that, Chris - although I was really hoping for the splits in Excel as well.
Yeah - me too.
I've asked the organisers.
I don't fancy trying to extract them from the PDF file...!
Sometimes the Sportident results appear here:
http://www.sportident.co.uk/calendar.php
but Duddon doesn't appear here yet.
The Duddon Valley fell races now have their own site at www.duddonvalleyfellrace.org.uk. There's a pre-entry form for the long race (but it's not a counter this year so both races are likely to allow entries on the day) and the usual results, photos and rules.
I notice that there was a debate about camping last year. I've asked Gail at the Newfield for the official line and I'll add directions to the site when I get it.
All comments welcome. I'll be the one in a ruined heap on Little Stand.
will
Brought back some happy memories looking at those photos! Thanks
Just looked at the entry form for the race and noticed the minimum age is 21 although in the FRA calender it says 18,can anyone confirm what it is
Thanks
Suggest contacting James on [email protected].
thanks
What about the short race, Fleeter, is there an age restriction on that, could be worth looking into, you could have a pint waiting for me if you do that, it will have gone cold by the time i finish the long race;)
You've spent £2.50. you've got to do it! Had a look at the short race route http://www.duddonvalleyfellrace.org.uk/routes .
Looks easier than Coniston, and isn't there a party afterwards?
I haven't ruled out doing the short route yet (although don't tell Lady Slugge!)
Can anybody tell me -
I haven't recced it and I don't even really know the area that well -
would I be OK to do it?
(bearing in mind I'll be near the back and unable to see the person in front of me!)
(my navigation is not too bad)
I too am considering the short route as a first race back after injury, however if all is well, I may end up on the full race. I'll be entering on the day , so I hope it's not too popular.
think i may do saddleworth the day after instead, would love to go under 25 minutes there, maybe duddon is a big step for my first long race, going to do borrowdale though definitly, going to do kinder trog and holme moss in the build up to it aswell
you up for borrowdale pal?
race are recce?
Both? do the race,we can both laugh at each other going up dale head at what stupid ballbags we are
fair enough mate
i think me and pudgy are doing hutton roof saturday, hellvellyn sunday then borrowdale recce on monday, going to ****** on tuesday :D
Just printed an entry form off for the long race, dare i send it off:eek:
Well, its an excuse to go camping with family again and get leathered on saturday night, 2 pints should do the trick:D
Wife has just found me a stamp, think she's keen on going camping again, off to post it now, before i talk myself out of it;)
So... My map says 20miles and 18miles of terrain. Whats the actual milage and if it is 20 miless, wheres the extra 2 miles on my map route?
I think the actual measured miles of a fell race mean pretty much nothing and, until you've actually run the race itself, the whole thing is an unknown quantity. The terrain (and the weather) is everything and with Duddon I imagine the terrain will be a bastard :D
does anyone one know any decent camp sites in the area?
There's one in Seathwaite as I recall, never camped there, but I've heard good reviews.

It feels like my right knee could be a dud 'un for Duddon :(
I aint dun nowt since fairfield. Now thats either a guddon or a baddon, we shall see.
Thanks for camp info: Found a decent camp site at Turner Hall (5mins from start), I'll be up Friday eve. hopefully staying over sat eve pending weather.
Stolly, I might be able to catch you if you're thinking of limping around on duddons.
Sorry to hear about the knee Stolly. You going up anyway?
I will be there one way or another, but will see how I feel after pushing it a little on the club hill run tomorrow. Still feeling not right since Windermere but improving.
I was going to miss Duddon to be at a friends b'day, but he's changed plans and is having it in the Lakes!!! Now if that isn't a sign from god I don't know what is. Even if I am not running I will be around the road crossings.
See some of you then.
Jason
I won't go up if I can't race Jason - I push well beyond the envelope with the other half on the running front (from her point of view of course ) such that I would lose too many brownie points were I to 'waste' an out and about day not actually running :D.
Nope my right knee looks a bit er....... saggy at the moment
