I'm nursing a sprain. Should be OK now, but I missed a lot of recent weeks of running. I did Fairfield in 2 hours before the injury. I expect to plod round tomorrow and creep back into the field when everyone else is watching the sheep dog trials !!
Thanks to the organisers of the race today. Very well marshalled and once we understood where we were meant to start. all was well.
For the few of you behind me just prior to the turn, I was the one upto my waist in bog... that'll teach me for not looking for the marked route !!
I was told I was doing well as I was the 2nd lady (only to realise they didnt mean me, but the runner just behind me)....

Looked like a hard race. Lots of knackering XC and then a real beasting on the fell, followed by more wobbly legged XC. Shame I felt unable to do it :p

Had a great time, really enjoyed it for my first race, rolled in 22nd with a time of 58mins, 10 mins off the winner, but he was probably half my weight ;)
I also missed the tags a little bit and went up to my chest in moss, but i was following the guy in front...mistake !

Think that was me you followed ukhursty, first time ive headbutted a mossy bog. You recovered well as i couldnt catch ya, i even ran down a dead end coming off the fell. So you beat me by what felt like miles. Some good pics taken i try to smile but it comes across as pain.
Haha, that bog was deep, and i'm nearly 6ft 5! That downhill was sketchy, so many opportunities to fall or slip and cause serious damage.
One guy in front of me went down on it, and i passed, then i repaid the favour going down just before that stupidly steep bit! I was impressed with how my Salomon Speed Cross 2's held up though, just the one slip.

I don't really want to spend lots as I won't want to lok at all the cows, sheep and tractors

Great little race. After I'd paid to get into the show I can't believe that I got paid £1 to run the race then receive FREE BEER at the finish. The bottle of Bowland Brewery's 'Druids Ruin' went down a treat last night.:)

What Mark is getting at:- He paid £6 to get into the show; at registration he received a £1 'rebate' ( yes, that makes it a fiver to actually enter the race; BUT, once on the show field he was effectively being paid £1 to run in the race ) plus of course the free bottle of Bowland Brewery's "Druids' Ruin" in the finish funnel. Looks a nice little race this one 4.4 miles and 1600ft part of the Hodder valley show,am off Saturday (10th) so gonna pop along for the race and beer tent.
It's my Birthday on the 10th so I think I'm gonna do this one.
Not done any running in that area so looking forward to it.
Cracking race today, really enjoyed it.
Some tough climbing and super fast bracken descents!
Nice impromptu cloud burst at the finish to cool everyone down as well. Well timed.

Yes, the Dunsop Bridge venue has the best fell race, with Mellor Knoll and Totridge Fell being so handy. It could be best described as a classic BOFRA style course. Next year the show will be at Slaidburn then Newton-in-Bowland for 2013 and back to Dunsop Bridge for 2014. The other 2 venues are longer races but less ascent - more cross-country/rough moorland style races, but still appear to be appreciated by our regulars.
Well done Mr. Breeze, waiting for the prize presentation. You displayed true Yorkie qualities, not departing for home without your bottle of wine for 1st V60!
