I'm back with a vengeance now sunnysideup....though still swimming a mile twice a week. :D
Apart from the Keswick 1/2 i'm not planning on doing anything on road. Sod the bloody tyranny of chasing PB's and all the injuries caused by road running, i'm sick of it.
I'm determined that 2007 is going to be about running over quiet canal towpaths, windswept moors, high mountain passes, pine needle forest trails and undulting coastal cliff paths and bollocks to 10k's on concrete. ;)
What have you got planned yourself?
-
Re: What races have you got pl
:) sounds good danbert.
I don't know which races I am going to do yet other than I am going to do SOME MORE THAN LAST YEAR :D
-

+ 1 other long (Ennerdale/Wasdale/Manxman)

Well Danbert I have just spent the last 20 minutes writing out my race calendar and the ******* forum logged me out when I submitted my post.
Basically my aim is to do some longer races this year - Wadsworth/Edale/Three peaks/Borrowdale..................... and dare I say a Road marathon.
Other than that
Jan
Stanbury Splash
Feb
Wadswoth
Ilkley Moor
March
Noon Stone
Half tour of Pendle/Windmills whizz
April
Bunny run series
Half Manx ( but some inconsiderate friend is getting married - for the 2nd time - and still having the full works)
Ann Waltz
Three Peaks
May
Jack Bloor
Austwick Amble
White Lion
Lothersdale
June
Pen - y - ghent
Buckden
Midsummer madness
Settle hills
July
Stoodley Pike
Stirton
Kentmere
Ingleborough
Aug
Borrowdale
To name but a few
This all negotiable with the other half who has most of these on her list. So I might be spectating with 2 hypo boys
Glad you are keeping up with the swimming - nothing like a bit of 'Lane Rage'
-
Re: What races have you got pl

Errrrr let me consult my list!!!
Kidding apart - I think it is the same day as the white holme circular - which at 12miles - its more appropriate for three peak preparation no??? I feel like I live at penistone country park so I thought I might go somewhere different for a change!
I'll see you and 'M' soon enough to get the spare copy I'm sure..........
-
Re: What races have you got pl
White Holme is highlighted on my list as well!! and you are right it is good prep for three peaks.
Dare I say.......... M is planning her 2007 race debut at Stanbury, so I better remain a good supporting husband!!
Night !

Re: What races have you got pl
That's a bustling if not hectic race schedule you're planning in the first half of the year yourself there Sunnysideup. Good luck with them all.

According to the Edale thread it's full up anyway..what is the Orion Fell race? I don't recall Epping Forest as having many hills:confused:

Are you talking about the Ian Hodgson when you say the British Relays? It's just because I noticed the Langdale has been brought forward a week from its listing in the Handbook, and now sits the day before the Ian Hodgson. Now that's a shame, is it not?
Must speak to R. Bell, race organiser....

Thanks, theNoor. Didn't realise that Langdale had been changed (is that on the Ambleside site?) Not sure how the old body would cope with Langdale & Ian Hodgson on consecutive days. I just about managed Thieveley Pike & the relays last year, but Langdale's a bit different to Thieveley.

Re: What races have you got pl
recovery from Achille tendon operation, Thursday 25.
I'd love to be running 100 miles per week in one year after the op, without Achille trouble.

Oh bugger! It's on here, in the Race Updates section.
-
Re: What races have you got pl
By my reckoning, Langdale is now the same day as the Gt Whernside English / British Champs counter, and probably a worse clash than before!

Definately not. i don't have my handbook to hand (it's about 10 yards away in the other room and i cant be bothered... drat i could have got it in the time taken to write this drivvle.) but they are a week or more apart.

Re: What races have you got pl
Hi, my names theNoor, I'm a tyre-fitter from Nottingham, and I'm a complete divvy....
Yep, quite right, Whernside and Langdale DO clash! Gutted, as I love Langdale but want to do this English champ race.
Come on Ambleside you useless getts, what's gannin' on? Why not make it the 14th? Day after British Relays? Putting it on same days as Champs isn't going to help - or is that what they want? Perhaps to reduce numbers and environmental impact, traffic congestion etc.
-
Re: What races have you got pl
tyre fitter from notts ????????
-
Re: What races have you got pl
Oh crap! Have I put my foot in it? You aren't a tyre-fitter from Nottingham are you?
I wasn't meaning anything by it - I'm frightfully sorry if I have offended.

Re: What races have you got pl
No, but they are by far the most comfortable shoes I've run in. I will think about getting them resoled as the uppers are still sound and I have some PB vouchers to use!
From the langdale horseshoe race organiser; "Difficult decision. It clashes with a championship race but we were persuaded to avoid the FRA relay weekend."

hmm this race was very hard work last year, 75% running on sand... 8% swimming in the sea rest of it treading water..
races this year 4-5 half marathons maybe a marathon and around 35 fell races, with a few xcountrys at the end of the year..

Well I missed Kinder 'cause of man-flu.
Did the Valleys (brilliant!), missed the Wrekin race 'cause I was in the Lakes, did the Waltz (fantastic!!), did the Old County Tops (a grand day out).
But then missed all the summer ones I wanted to do, including Ennerdale, 'caused I b*gg*red me ankle up in the OCT. Doh!
It's interesting looking back though, int it?
