Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday, but a couple of formalities just to mention now.
Looking at the BBC forecast for Sunday shows grey cloud for the area. Going by the usual accuracy of these forecasts this could mean blazing sunshine or a class 5 hurricane. Could I just remind people to turn up with standard fra kit (pertex type waterproofs will be fine), if the weather is looking bad we may enforce kit checks at the start.
Second, although the path we use at the start of the race is a public right of way, it passes through private farmland. The landowners have asked, that before the race, to make sure we stay on the path and do not use the fields either side for warming up. If people want to warm up on a slope they are welcome to run up and down Lightside which is just next to the race start.
Many thanks
Gordon
No worries.
How would i go about getting there from Glossop town centre
Or could anyone give me a lift from Glossop train station or Mossley area
From Glossop town centre, head out on High St East towards Sheffield. At The Commercial pub turn left onto Manor Park road. I will be putting signs from the top of Manor Park Road pointing towards registration.
More detailed instructions are on the Glossopdale website,

The page

has a GoogleMaps link so you can zoom in to work out directions from the Station.

I ran this race when it was a championship race in 2004, and my first time up there since was on Monday as NVMM was playing Cricket in Glossop which gave me a chance to play out. I'd forgotten how tough the route is.
Took the opportunity to have a look at a couple of the aircraft wreck sites (James Thorn Lancaster and Shelf Moor Superfortress) - sobering.
Has anyone a map for the route or grid refs?
I fancy running it when the knee mends.
Many thanks
Hi Stagger, small map here, should be enough to work out the details:

Cheers Rich:)
That'll do nicely. I am now looking at races for next year. AM will be my Max and only a couple of them towards the end of 2010.
I've uploaded a zip file containing a gpx and mmo file of the route. The main loop is run in the anticlockwise direction, ascending up James's Thorn and descending down lightside.
The gpx file opens fine in googleearth. I haven't tried the mmo file but it was done with memory map2004.
Good stuff STL;)
I've decided I will be doing Shelf Moor:D
I'll bring along some Rescue Ale if there is any interest.
I've got permission too :D
It'll be great to see everybody there. Hopefully the rain will hold off. I picked the prizes up from Simon Dunn in Glossop yesterday and I think he may have even done a better job than last year.
Just a reminder that the Junior race is also taking place tomorrow.
Gordon
Just had brekkie and now to make sure that I've got all the gear. Can't wait to get to the climb at James Thorn. Going for a good, steady, I'm just glad to be able to run type run. Might not rain until later on, fingers crossed.:D Hope I can find the Scout Hut. Hope Street?
Big vote of thanks to everyone concerned, especially the organiser and the people up on the moors. Thanks to those who put out the flags and collect them back in. Shouldn't have passed the young lady on the home stretch, she got a bottle of beer and I didn't. That'll teach me.:D
Many thanks to everyone who turned out today, runners and marshals.
Well done to Lloyd and Christine as winners today. Lloyd's time was faster than I expected given the conditions underfoot at the moment.
As promised earlier here are the provisional results. I have had to compress the file to meet the upload limit. If there are any changes to names or clubs please let me know in the next couple of days and then I will post the file to the FRA and our webmaster.
Sorry that you missed out on your beer two toe nails. A few people had nipped past before I could hand it out, and then I couldn't catch up with everyone in drinks area.
Gordon
So far from home we have
I did warn you it would be wet under foot
or
Keep looking lads, the Rescue Ale is down there.
or
I was only joking, when I told the dark peak runners they had to swim to the start
It was wet but not that wet:D
4 minutes faster for me this year. I really like that descent:D
and I made it to third man in the team prize, thanks to Lloyd and Tony.
My Prize????? ......
A bottle of Rescue Ale..........Perfect.
Saw gyppo briefly. Thanks to all the team Gordon, a great race.
and well done to Julien from Glossop, only 13th but he did do a race in Scotland yesterday!!!! what sort of excuse is that;)

how can one runner show a gentle poise with a slightly healthy glow and another look to be in such agony.

I'll let you decide which;)
I assume you refer to the one of you and Jackie Lee!? She doesn't look in agony to me! ;)

Notice what a great diversity of clubs took part in this race; about 23. That's fantastic in a relatively small field.
Thanks for the organisation Gordon.:)
Cracking race, thanks to all the marshal's and organisors.
Results posted super quick and Rescue Ale at the end :D
Must remember (or not) how long the climb goes on for, seemed to have forgotten about that bit!!
Was Lloyd wearing Mizuno Wave Harriers, and if so WHY?
Enjoyed the climb up, but didn't like the narrow path along the river near the start or all the peat bog on the way down, I was about 10x slower getting down than I was getting up.
