You will know us two when you see us
Pudgy- A grey haired fellow with a bit of a belly but quite friendly and has a gay running style.
Tom- A gallant young runner who glides over the terrain until doh, there goes my ankle.

You mean there's two
Yep, you'll undoubtedly witness the mincing, as I'll be shuffling up the yellow brick road in a Judy Garland stylee, somewhere near the back (watch it boys). I may even wave my spangly handbag on the descent. I normally do.

Re: Ingleborough Fell Race ent

Re: Ingleborough Fell Race ent
I think gay running styles seem to suit fell-running, certainly on the descents. It's all this using your arms for balance.
Whenever you see a picture of Ian Holmes flying down some descent, he's always flailing his arms all over the place.

Theres a difference between flailing your arms for balance and using it to slow down. I find my descending is much quicker if i adopt a track running style. Much smoother, more compact and more efficient

Ingleborough Fell Race
Im thinking of doing this race, Is it hard.
-
Re: Ingleborough Fell Race
well 2100ft in 7 miles is a considerable amount of climb. it is a cat A so it aint gonna be a walk in the park

Re: Ingleborough Fell Race
Will see you there mate,
Never mate so gud 2 meet up.
How much training do u do with Saddleworth.
-
Re: Ingleborough Fell Race
erm last summer and last week i was. Training on a monday-usually something fast, Tuesday-Long slow run, Wednesday-rest or race,Thursday-rest or race, Friday-rest, Saturday-race, Sunday-long run. But i do a lot of swimming and track running
-
Re: Ingleborough Fell Race
2000' in 3.5 miles. Road and track all the way, then stone/rock steps (dodgy if wet) to the summit. Return is initially via heather/fell to avoid steps and remaining runners, and then track/ road to finish. Even I've managed to descend 40% faster than the ascent, so if you can run at top speed downhill for 3.5 miles, enjoy. :) Not as tough as Kentmere.

Re: Ingleborough Fell Race
Sounds like there's a fair bit of track. Assuming not much more rain before Saturday, any advice on if Walshes would be suitable, or am I best off getting the trail shoes out?
-
Re: Ingleborough Fell Race
if its dry id say trail shoes if wet fell shoes the race is a rocky one quite a fast course
-
Re: Ingleborough Fell Race
Nonsense you baistow :p. Mudclaws all the way. If its rocky like in wales i go for mudclaws. Unless you invest in Crosslites

No you cant criticise them. Can you take that comment back. The studs may not be big but the grip is awesome

No on wet rock though which is what ingleborough is. Mudclaws all the way for mud. But at coiners next year il be wearing cross country spikes
-
Re: Ingleborough Fell Race
Eyeballs out all the way no real hard decending except little bit at top, good for old codgers like me with dodgy knees ,mostly hard track n path, if dry i would do it in road shoes or on the bike;)

Re: Ingleborough Fell Race
Are you doing ingleborough
-
Re: Ingleborough Fell Race
Thanks Scott. I'll decide when I get there - made the mistake at Beamsley Beacon last month of wearing my Walshes when it was mostly road/trail. Will soon have no studs left on them. It's a Wharfedale Champ race - are you doing it?
