I have done this race 3 times and hoping to make this year my 4th time but it wont be quick, Last year i did the first mile in around 7 minutes
I'm entered.
I'll tell you what Ady - Wesham just doesn't come in to it - Salfords good though.
I went to Rufford a few years ago - flat as a pancake and only about 4 corners to negotiate on a rectangular course.
We were around a minute down (I think Paul Freary got hit by a car or something that day warming up).
The atmosphere etc make a difference and I think the whole event helps the RV10k.
Also the start is so inviting - you always feel like that 1st mile gets you on the money!
I have also entered for this one.

Johnny Mellor
our own Ben Fish
and sneaking in there quietly Nick McCormick!!!
plus the legend Ron Hill
Ladies
Helen Clitheroe leads the way
Vicky Gill
Pauline Powell
Sarah Tunstall
that's just having a flick through
God thats quite a field - shame my feckin ITB is still giving me hastle.
We have Nielson Hall from Bedford - a sub 30 min guy and after the Euro Cross Ben Lindsay has got to be in the mix for a sub 30 - after all he finished in front of a few of these guys at the Euro XC trials in Liverpool.
Weather permitting, I could see up to 10 UK males under 30 mins.
Are you having a go Al Fowler?
Looks like a good'un this, but it clashes with the Sale 5 where I will probably be...

867 entries now - should be up to 900 by close of play tonight as John Schofield is updating the list.
Postal Entries now closed, but online entries will remain open until Boxing Day.
Entries on day, you must get there early - 1500 permit so you should be OK.
i have just found out there is a charity football match at Bentham in honour of my Father in Law who passed away recently and I am expected to play at 2pm on the 28th so I will be rushing back after the 10k. hopefully i will be able to get the goalies job!!
Just been to watch Leyland 10K and the Fell Runners did well!
Mens
1. Matt Nuttall - BBH
2. Nick Leigh - Alty / P&B ?
3. Brian Cole - Stoke / Marines / BBH?
winning time around 32:30

The winner said "just a nice little blow-out in prep for the big one on Sunday!":D

Results now on.
Ady - are you impressed with Mr Nuttalls speed?
His PB is 32:15 at last year's RV10K - he'll do well to make the top 20 on Sunday but may still get a PB.
What's the parking like for this one? Is the LC and School best place to go for parking?
The Leisure Centre is the best spot but fills by about 10.00am.
There are other options organised so just follow the marshalls instructions and you'll be fine.
Have a great run Pinno, you'll love the course (for a tarmac one!). Hold back for the 1st mile though as it's so tempting to fly off as it's on a slight downhill and then flat.
Just back
Ben Lindsay 1st in 29:55 and Helen Clitheroe 1st in 32:32.
I got my target of sub 40 with a 39:12 so happy with that.
The race seemed to go off super, being traffic free for the first time. Extra toilets laid on as well.
Any forumites with feedback, I'll pass it on.
Just been browsing prov results. 2 potential winners did not start. Quite a few no shows looking at pre-entries/finishers. V40 prize for Mr N :)

Yes - that "V" has certainly helped his pocket money!
A very well organised race today and well worth doing.
Pleased with my time although had hoped to be pushing the sub 40 time today for the first time. Ended up with a 41.56 being unwell for a week a two before Christmas has not helped plus the volume of food consumed over the festive period.
Race looked like it had a few no shows today?
Great race although I found it a bit harder than i should; too much xmas food! I m missing from the results though. It says on the provisional results to email any errors. Is that to schofield or blackburn harriers?
Well done to Blackburn Harriers !!! Superb organisation. I was a spectator this year and saw how well things went. Some very fast girls and boys there today. Results were out quickly so there may be a few errors but cannot think of anything negative to say.
Just hope the residents of the Ribble Valley don't get too critical if they were held up for a few minutes.
