From Dave Woodhead ..
BR 4 next week, followed by the series prizegiving.
Looking ahead to the the Bunny Relays on Tue 1 May ...
besides men, ladies, V40, FV35 teams there are also prizes for BU14, BU16, GU14, and GU16 teams. Any combination of team is allowed and ad-hoc teams are most welcome so get out there poaching the top runners!
Prizes for Family and Mixed teams and, for real saddo's or people with no mates, the solo category.
The race route is:
Leg 1 - Bunny Run route as in 2006 (small lap (including an Egg Stage!), big lap, then into Dimples quarry for changeover, 2.5 miles, 250')
Leg 2 and 3 - out of Dimples onto long lap (2 miles, 200')
Remember - batons will be eggs, straight from the hen ...

(For those who weren't there, the small silver object is a painted egg, the Bunny relay baton. And it's the Brownlee Brothers, the leading team, who are fumbling the changeover.
Poll .. should they be eggscluded from the results?)

The Bunny Runs start on 1 April at 7pm (no, this is not an April Fool's joke!)
(The following weeks' races will be later, as daylight allows.)
The usual mix of fast and fun running, LOADS of chocolate prizes, and Dave Woodhead shouting at you.
(Do not park in the quarry itself as you'll be in the way!)
There will be a special prize draw at each race for a LUXURY chocolate easter egg (2kg of Belgian chocolate - oooh).
Plus chocolate throw-out in The Old Sun afterwards, that night's race video, etc.

Haven't been to one of these since the change of venue but going to give it a go tonight.
Do you just park at the normal Penistone race car park and run down to the start?
What footwear is best for the course?
Don't park at the normal Penistone carpark! Registration is at the Sun Inn on the Stanbury side of Haworth, at the side of the main road. Park on side of the main road or Parsonage car park. Then it's a 5 mins walk/jog to the start, give yourself plenty of time.
Footwear - I'll be wearing studs, but trail shoes will also be OK. Mostly firm packed path.
Lots of people going from our club so should be a packed pub.
Cheers W. Thanks for the advice.
It's the Woodheads 30th wedding aniversary today as well!!!!
Congratulations to Mrs Woodehad for putting up with Mr Woodhead for so long!!!!!!!!!;)

Cold and very windy, but massive turnout. Start was delayed about 15 mins due to numbers and because of a lorry fire. Nearly 300 there.
Anyone reasonably local should have a go on at least one of these as "sprint" training - provided you don't mind being beaten by some kids!
Results up now on http://woodentops.org.uk
first time I've done one of these and thoroughly enjoyed it, what a blast, even if loads of kids bombed past me !! can see why they're so popular, and my cadbury's creme egg went down a treat !
Some shots of Bunny Run #2 from this evening: http://picasaweb.google.com/BobEWightman/2008BunnyRun2
Mostly of Ilkley runners as I didn't have any large capacity cards with me.
Beaten to it!

Not much competition for "first to get their photos on the web" tonight. Must have been mad to take me camera out in that weather ... http://woodentops.org.uk
Enjoyed watching the bunnies tonight. All that heavy breathing, and those wet t-shirts. Marvellous thing, that Playboy Channel. Photos on here look a little different to the event I was watching mind.
Bunny 3 results now on http://woodentops.org.uk
I'm amazed that the results survived the awful weather. Many thanks to all of the helpers.
Just about thawed out.
More photos can be found at: http://www.photoboxgallery.com/LHI
There are some available from the 1st 2 runs, if you send me your number I will see if I have one.
Thanks
Anthony
Can someone explain to me what the hell an egg stage is?!?!
There's a race within a race. There are basically 3 different laps/circuits: a middle sized one, a big one, and a baby one. So it's just like the three bears, only minus the bears.
The first person round mummy bear - doh, I mean the first lap - wins the egg stage.
Oh, and I should have mentioned: the winner gets an egg, rather than a bowl of porridge.
Good photo Paul!
