Brave man! No winky shrinky then? ;)
Managed an hour on snowy roads at lunchtime in the sleat but I was wrapped up well. The big melt is on though.

Tried to do some of the Long Mynd Valleys route but got pi55ed off with freezing feet from all the slush . Hard work trying to run in the snow/slush . I wish it would just go now the novilty factor has worn off .
Went out pre dawn today for a dark and slippy 5. Seemed to be before the thaw.
No car or her indoors this w/e so hopping to get some decent miles in.

Quick up and down the Wrekin . Most of the snow gone round here now .
Out twice today, early doors 5 trail with around 1000ft climb, mostly slush now, some of it deep, and a lot of standing water as the ground underneath is still frozen, but I also found a some sliddy ice half way round and had my first fall of the winter. Luckily I carry more padding than i used to but i could feel it up my spine all morning.
Then just been out on the roads for a nice 7, no ice for the first time in weeks. Felt good and improved through the run.
Not shorts weather yet!!!

2h45 on Pendle today with a couple of my team mates from Bowland.
First run of 2010 - A cracker of a run across the fields round me, 12.5 miles.
Knackered now - I'll tell ya this for free :D theres some serious water-logging (thats a word?) at the moment....knee deep in places! Was refreshingly cold to say the least.:D
Did 6 ascents of Win Hill from Yorkshire Bridge. Tough going in ever worsening conditions underfoot. By rep 5 the ground was sodden with that terrible icy snow getting more and more water logged. Started doing 29 min reps up and down and by number 6 was struggling to do 38 mins for fear of falling over.

There you go :D
85 mins on and around Chevin and Danefield - snow, slush, ice, mud, torrential streams etc. Being a bit over-cautious even by my standards on a couple of descents.
1 hour 40 mins over pentland hills yesterday in snow, ice, galeforce winds, hail and more snow flurries
not too nice at all really
a slow Ten round the villages. Had a codger in a 4x4 leave it to the very last second before swerving to avoid me on a pathless lane. Yet another example of why training on roads sucks.
yeah i would save yorkshire bridge reps for week evening heaadtorch run - and mix it up over the weekend - one downside of that way up win hill is its actually quite "steppy" - ie although its steep you can generally put your foot on a horizontal surface (go round the corner and bash your way up twitchhill side etc if you can't currently get to edale area due to roads/snow) for a steep, grassy slope, calf work out (a la skiddaw) - or do win-lose-win for a bit of variety.
actually with t he slush at the moment its prob like trying to walk up rollers!
Stuck to the road again today to actually get some running in, so did a steady 11 round the lanes, 1000ft climb in the first 5 miles and then enjoying a similar descent. Hopefully the fells will be runnable soon.
Jason
2hr 20mins steady on Ilkley Moor with GrahamB, socks and cousin Gill. Mixed conditions underfoot - everything from knee deep snow, tussocks, icy frozen ground to paths like streams
9 mile on roads with 1100 ' of climbing - 1 hour and 20 seconds.
It's called slydoggin' or roadyin' to produce better results on the fells ;)
Second half of the FTOP today. Very misty on the hill today and I ended up wandering off the trod on Pendleton Moor going over to Ashendean Clough which required a steep descent mostly on my backside through the snow drifts to cross the clough. :D
Did a short but steep run/walk on the North side of Kinder today. 2.5 miles, with about 1250' climbing, up Blackden Clough onto Blackeden Edge and Ashop Moor, then back via a lemming like plummet (loosing 750' in less than 1/2 a mile) and a gentle trot to the van (which then needed pushing back onto the road). Took an hour and a quarter but we did have plenty of scenery breaks and going nowhere fast up the steep and deep snow.
Most importantly, first time back on the big hills for my dog, after 2 months off with mild artheritis and a pulled back leg.
I uploaded my garmin from yesturdays 'door-step run'.
I know its very 'undulating' round me and there was a few good lung buster climbs, but nothing big like you get in a proper race....12.59 miles and 956ft (Thats using garmin connect)
Depending on how accurate the garmin is, - my legs are flippin feeling it to say the least.
Ave Heart Rate 150
Max HR -174 (That was climbing a big hill:o)
I probably should have gone for a nice gentle 4 miler, but i couldnt resist going all out and really putting in the effort.
Out with the club. No great distance yet.
Few mile out thro very wet trails and back via road.
Got to build up more miles, reckon to and from works back on the agenda this week.
New years res is in danger. No weight loss. Gained a pound :(
17miles, 3750ft in 2.15 the only hills without much snow
20m/3513ft over to Stoodley Pike then down to the valley floor at Halifax Road and back up to Pike, Haworth Hobble route. Bloody slow going in places due to knee-deep drifts still knocking about. London Road below the Pike was like an ice rink!
Tomato soup with a couple of slices of dry bread went down a treat as did the bag of Monster Munch, original roast beef flavour:cool:
Good run Merry , I am surprised you didn't take a 24 hour ration pack on that one considering the conditions :D
*loody Nora ! They have changed a bit since my days!
Yorkies ?! We used to get SPANGLES !

For gods sake don't eat the brown biscuits they bung you up for week and as for the Coffee it tastes more like bromide!!!!
We used to get cases of the stuff left by the squaddies when they did there water training at our centre.
Todays run was... a run at last, felt a bit better today, legs still lifeless but there was a bit of a spark there, I'm still finding the hills hard going but at least i didn't have to stop to be sick:(.
about 8 hilly miles
Them biscuits AB are orrible, dog biscuits taste better, Yorkies?! We used to get some un-branded mystery chocolate, orrible as well, yanks ration packs were the best, got M&M's in them;)
The Pate was a bit dry and the Orange powder was like dringing orange on steroids. the Puddings were totally inedible though even my daughter thinks there's too much sugar in them!!!!!!!!!
The matches are awesome though, always have a couple of packs with me when I go camping.
A snowy seven up to Chew & then along to Dish stone brow to see the snow cornices. 1463 of ups. Brilliant conditions up top with consolidated snow. Some of the cornices have been collapsing with quite a volume of snow falling down. Used snow chains that posties use, (http://www.snowchainwarehouse.co.uk/...rices_253.html) seventeen quid & did the job well.
