Most fell runners do more cycling than running - seriously is that true?
Me I'd hardly done any til got injured round Christmas and couldn't run any more, then got bike for a bit of commuting to work.
Last night I did 25:03, which was way better than my first effort but that was in strong winds and hail (25:53)! I'm told the Brecon course is about 1 minute slower than the Abergavenny one. There were two guys way faster than me though - under 24, wow!
That is a good time on that course! Great...
I am riding on the Abergavenny course on Friday, all being well... I am hoping to get near 25 minutes myself...
Lots of fell runners seem to cycle when they are injured...
is the Abergavenny TT open to anyone? time/venue? I might come along, and see if I can tempt Dave out too.
The fastest chap last night was Neil Cox, who I think is in the Abergavenny club.
Yes, Neil is one of ours...
Our club TT is on Thursdays and is open to non club memebers. You pay £2...
Here is the info you need, on the club website: http://www.abergavennyrc.org.uk/events/index.php
You won't see me there, as I work Thursday evenings... but I am doing a solo attempt on the course Friday, as my coach wants to know how I compare on that course against the other women in the club...
So far I have only done a 25M TT.
P.S. Dave does not like time trialling and is about to sell his TT bike...
A ride out to marshall at the club evening 10 tonight. Probably got 30 miles in and got wet on the way home. Home it's dry tommoz, got some biking to do.
Well I managed 50 odd minutes of high cadence easy spinning as recovery from my three days of hard riding.
Got a bit wet though from riding through a deep puddle... water came up to my front mech... and my whole bum and back got sprayed, as well as my legs :(
Interestingly Daz, a mate of mine tried to convince me to do one as a team with him in France this summer... Then the guy who sponsors my racing bike suggested I'd join his team doing one in Germany... So we got to talk about doing one solo... Don't think I am ready for something like that this year, but it certainly intruigues me...
So when are we organising a proper forum bike ride??? English / Welsh / Borderish / North / South people in one place to compare bike finery ???
9 -13 July... It is getting scarily close and I have never ridden longer than 108 kms...
But that will cange on Sunday, I have a rare day off and am going to see how far I can ride in a day...
Thanks Ady... I am going to give that a try... I will poor over some maps tonight and see of I can ride several intertwined figures of eight and also plan to be in villages with pubs/cafe's for some sustenance at certain times of the day...
More info found by trawling around here, in and amidst much wibbling...
Practically, we will ride the 4 cardinal points of Wales, taking in all the major cols in the process, over 5 days...
Me:D:D:D
Seriously Ady, if you are interested let me know. Basically it is just over 500 miles spread over 4 days + an evening prologue the day before to get 35 miles of Angelsey out of the way. We are visiting the 4 cardinal extremes of Wales, N, S, E, W and have contrived a route to take us over the best roads and the 10 highest cols in the Principality(and several others!!). Days range between 100 and 150 miles in length. We start at 18:00, Thurs 9th July.
Thursday 9 July, right, Toff?
Yup, 9th!
Made a bit of a mess of this mornings ride by having lasagne for breakfast and thinking I could keep it down. Was OK until the pace went anearobic and that's when breakfast started to re-appear. Did a u-turn and headed back home at the fifteen mile point. Will stick to egg on toast in future.
After work today my lock wasnt for opening (its the kind where you have to put four numbers one to nine in)
Tried and tried for half and hour and then phoned my dad to bring the big bolt cutters.
The havent been used since 1987 so where crap really, the good old junior hacksaw came to the rescue and cut my bike free!
A few people asked us what we where doing....and once me and my dad are together nothing serious comes out of our mouths.
So we told the people we where nicking it...and then pointed at another bike and said "that ones next"
:D
Excellent.
