Tried doing hill reps last night with a mate but my legs where just dead. After 4 or 5 reps i sacked it off and took my mate on my usual loop across the fields.
It was dark but just about light enough not to need the headtorch - probably should have had it on all the time because i spent half my time stumbling across the cow-destroyed field
Just under 6 miles.
FTOP2h45
...glad to see you are tapering for Saturday Hursty!! I feel like a right slob now!
Hehe thanks, was just a gentle plod round, fantastic afternoon up there, all dry too
I've had to pull out from the HH for a few reasons, firstly been called into work, secondly, I don't have the right footwear, only got my talons now, salomons have disintegrated, and thirdly, I'm coming close to my start date now, so taking it easy.
Gutted, but I'll be back next year :)
Nice run tonight (although my legs felt v. tired.)
and good chat in the pub after.
Belated entry for yesterday:
Distance - 9.5 miles
Time - 1hr 14 min
Elevation gain approx - 1200 ft
Conditions - Constant head wind and very cold
Felt awful all the way round, legs very heavy and gained a pain in the hip.
An hour's circuit training last night at the Richard Dunn sports centre in Bradford; 20 ish minutes of mainly running and some aerobics to warm up, a blaster of a circuit, maybe 26 sets at a minute a piece, followed by an uber stomach crunching warm down at the end.
Club run last night c6ml / 800ft? Excellent Landlord :) Good banter :) Sadly, no chips :(
A quick hill session last night, trying to spare the ITB, which seemed to work.
5 miles on road this morning - 5 miles of intervals off road tonight.
Hill reps on steep grass x 12
1 min hard up 1 min loop back down
Good to see you are still putting the effort in...
12.9 miles 3,000ft long hard hilly session
Strines Inn to Back Tor- bottom Abbey Brook-Wet Stones(huge steep climb and ran it all:D)-Reversed route to back Tor then dropped back to Strines via Strines Moor Ridge.
Beautiful day, snow still covering bleaklow, Barmy and warm out of the wind but still cold in it.
6.5 miles and a 1000' climb on lunchtime run round local reservoirs.
An easy 9.85mi over Pendle this morning with 2,667ft of climb. Gentle pace, just making the most of the sunshine and mildness. T-shirt only (a first for the year), lovely clear skies, so plenty of stopping and admiring the view. Planned a route over some less well travelled parts of Pendle, so even had to get the map out!
What a great day!!

First run this week, 6m/1000ft ran all the ups and felt good, probably ache like ten men tomorrow but at least i feel like i've done something.
Bring on the Hobble:cool:
5 or 6 miles and a 1,000 feet or so out back tonight :)
Raced the sun setting tonight ...Greenfield - Chew Res - Featherbed Moss Trig (just as sun disappeared in the west) - return journey pretty much the same...Great night out there :)
Greenfield - Chew Res - Laddow (after cursing through the knee deep slush from the res) - Featherbed Moss Trig - Chew Res - Plantation n' home...Good outing, cold up top, spring like once back in the valley...
Hill reps:
Distance - 4.6 miles
Time - 37:25
Conditions - fairly warm
feeling good and strong today - now a weekend of beer and c**p food :D
2 hour walk up, down and around Arthurs seat in Edinburgh..in glorious SUNSHINE
quite a few people also had the same great idea
Mallerstang Yomp recce - 23 miles, some on slippery slow and bloody cold on the Nine Standards. Apart from that a day of blue skies and plovers. Er....4 hours and 36 mins (well I was only training!).:o
Friday. Llanberis to Bwlch Main ( a bit dodgy underfoot),over hils to Moel Elio and down to Llanberis. Up through quarries to Elidirs, Mymydd perfedd, Foel goch and down to Nant Peris. Today. beddgelert to hebog and then PBR to pont C and run road back into gelert.
Quick nip round the pendle cloughs route in 2h45 this morning.
Windy day.
8 miles over road, farm tracks and fields in 51:47. Beautiful day for a run.
Not run a fast race for a while so wanted to test the legs. Ran up Cut gate and back flat out.
I had the crazy idea of breaking the one hour mark and used this as motivation for the pain:o
2/3rds up I was well on schedule but then I hit the snow line and this really slowed me up bashing through heavy wet snow and going through regularly including a cut knee(ice). reached the cairn in 33.29 minutes (15 secs off a pb:eek:) Turned round and elected to run through the deep heather rather than the snow but this was also slow, from Bull clough I was flying and loving it. Sprinted up the two steep sections and pushed hard to the gate.
7.8 miles 1100ft in 1.02.21 which is close to my PB:D can't wait for the snow to go and the one hour with it.:D
First proper training run since 2009 today, 4.5m flattish trot taking in old man Devonshire's Rocking Moor (no offence your lordship:D).
Dead reckon from Dukes Lane off Hoodstorth Lane to pick up a keeper's trod to Rocking Hall, an isolated shooting lodge with a fantastic carved head over the main entrance. Either side of ornate the main entrance were two beater's cubby holes with one bench, a row of coat hooks, a fireplace and no door! A fantastic example of the class divide if ever i saw one. Picked up the return route down the side of West End Reservoir after following some shooting butts to the hairpins at the Washburn Bridge.
Afternoon tea at Buffers, i now know what a 20T brake wagon looks like
Sorry, forgot this is the 'Training' thread...:o
Slow week last week
3 miles sunday (started to do 10 but had to give up - knackered from a poor Pendle)
off monday
7 miles club road run tues
6 or so miles off road headtorch run - wed
off thurs/fri cos of Hobble and lack of preparation.
32m sat hobblihike
10k Keighley road race 42.48 sunday, only about a minute behind the main Keighley pack so quite happy with that considering the day before and how broken I was at the end of the hike.
Hopefully will pick it up ready for the peaks now
