Remember how i said yesterday that i wouldnt be doing owt much today 'cos i was going to work at Barrow?
Well I thought to myself 'why not shove the bike in the van and stop on the way home for a bit of a ride around the lakes'?
So I did just that. From Coniston to Torver -Broughton - Ulpha - Eskdale -Hardknott and Wrynose then back to Coniston. No idea how far this was, took 2.5hours going steady.
A truly wonderful day.
17+ miles over the downs this am (7.00 start); windy and chilly but very enjoyable...sun trying to break through by the end as I ran down through Wild Park.
Cheers - Raymond
Legs a bit wibbly after Fiendsdale but went out for a slow recovery run - ended up doing 7 reasonably quick off road miles:D River bank paths/woods and fields - still lots of mud although a flat run but think my legs appreciated it!!
Yay Half Mara PB yesterday at Wilmslow!
1:23.58 Pb by 5 mins so well pleased with it!:D :D
Legs a bit sore today, thou the shin prob I've had for the last week seems ok and certainly not any worse!
in w**K early this morning 6:15 (yawwwwn) but it means I get to finish early so hopefully the weather will be a repeat of yesterday and I might consider an easy hour or two on the bike! :D
Last night's core stability training involved me, doubled over the toilet spewing my guts out for about half an hour at 01:30 am last night. Last week has been such a strange week. I think it might have been the litre or pure purple grape juice (Welch's) on offer in Asda for £1.28, which I drank pretty quickly. Such a shame.

Well the session went well - how can you be seemingly doing so little yet sweat SO much:confused:
Warm up followed by hill reps on the treadie, then lots of balancing on 1 leg!! (then the other leg!) Trying to get my rubbish muscles and knees to go the way they are supposed to and work on core stability etc. Thought he was trying to kill me off with the abs work - nearly hit him!!!
Back on the recliner bike for more glutes/quads/ wongy knee work then lots of stretching - phew need a lie down, alas off to wrestle the delightful shoppers in Tesco:rolleyes:
Thanks all!
Does anyone have a wheel chair I can borrow for the rest of the day!
And don't talk to me about stairs.....evil invention that they are!
What a lovely day. Just been out for 7 miles along the canal, through Dunham Park and around the golf course. Felt great in the sun. No need for hat, gloves, tracksters etc. Hope it's like this tomorrow at Liver Hill. Sunset is 7.33pm so I will have to knock 10 minutes off last year's time to get back before it sets.
Thought I'd join in on this, I'm just getting started running again and want to get some structure to it.
Tonight is a gentle 5 Mile tarmac jog home from work.
 10 miles and did a cartwheel on our lawn as a finale in front of the kids and nearly knocked myself out on a plant pot. ouch
good job it was plastic and not terracotta.
oh and ive set my runner beans tonite
Despite the weather only the daily bike commute today - still pacing myself in advance of latest comeback race but this week should be a mighty 22 mile week!!
Definitely not in one run at the moment!! Plans are for a two 4s (including one fartlek) a 5 and a 9 -plus a 12 mile walk on saturday!!
You mean the Reindeer Romp (as in the Inn where we parked and drank after) - nice little race(s) but I usually decide only a day or so in advance on relatively local short midweek races.
Back to the gym for the second time today - an hours spinning session. the usual instructor is still on holiday:mad: he's very good! His stand -in was there again - nice bloke but doesn't shout enough:(
Yesterday was a lumpy race on Dartmoor, today was a mile swim at lunchtime and 5 miles easy-but-hilly off-road this evening.
I'm completely shagged out. I reckon a glass of wine or three may help.
Had a canter around the meadow for about half an hour fast as I could, dont know why I do it really -I just enjoy it. Anyway I was knackered after that so I ate a bit of grass (Well quite a lot actually) and then licked flys off my genitals.
A Cracking day, probably do the same tommorrow.
Do you like it when they shout at you to go faster????
25 miles on the bike last night for me. Bit windy but really enjoyed it!
Amazing how much more pleasant it is on the bike without having to wear 64 layers, ski gloves, two hats, over shoes etc.
Oh and it was first trip out of the year for mi summer bike
Track sesh at the arena tonight!:(
Don't know.
I try to blot out the memories! :D
Ran up to Cock Hill trig point last night with a couple of extra miles thrown in. Was a good gentle run after Wilmslow and a lovely evening
I fancy trying spinning, but i am a bit scared:eek:
my head is spinning, does that count?!
5 miles at lunch time,
track this evening 6 x 800, all a bit of a blur, but pleased with it.
It's GREAT - you should give it a go at least, then become addicted like me:D
If it's the same as our gym the music is REALLY loud and the room is dark:eek: First time I thought OMG - but was soon grateful as noone can see you grimacing or hear you cursing!!;)
Gravy 6 route this evening - lots of runners out on a stunning evening. Legs feel a bit heavy
16 x 300 at lunchtime, and some mild cycling.
Very warm in the sunshine. Made very small daisychains later.
Monday - 10miles road. jogged round in 66 mins.
Tuesday - 10miles road . Battered round doing 4mins easy 11mins hard x4. Took 1:00:05. very pleased with this as I was feeling lethargic from the start. Only a week and a bit to go before training ends and tapering begins.
6 miles
followed by 10 x 3 minute flat out hill reps on the golf course
hurt my back
8 x 800 reps last night!
My god could I feel the weekends race!
Think I'm going to have anight off tonight, some friends have managed to talk me into cooking for them (rather than me just going round to theirs) they won't be asking me again! ;)
Might go out on the bike for an hour if I can get out of w**k on time!
If anyone fancies a trot up Pendle on Thursday afternoon (29th) I am doing next Saturday's race route with a loop around the hill thrown in from Barley at around 2ish.
Incredibly tired nowadays, could fall asleep just about any time of any day. Did half hour on the turbo (2min reps, 1 min off) but decided to give the 2 short runs either side of turbo (as originally planned) a miss. Even this very easy session hurt my legs. Looking forward to the weekend when it's all gonna be over and i can start to rest up for the marathon.
I made a puddle on the kitchen floor.
