Second half of the Yorkshireman today.....pretty damn wet n muddy.......not be a fast time if it stays like that.
It was, but it turned into more of a hike than a run. :o

7.5 miles/1300' on my local reservoir loop route.
Had a nip round Long Mynd yesterday, was quite a nice place, quite a busy place mind. Planned a better route for next week down there. Any more routes around that area would be welcomed :)
Put in 2k on the rower and 60mins high intensity on the bike in the gym this aft.
Rounded off Week 1 of the push up challenge as well :)
Marsden to Bleaklow and back on Friday. 26 ish miles & 5300. Supposed to be a Double Marsden attempt, but a puke on Bleaklow was natures way of saying turn back, so I did!
I had a run round the Wadsworth half trog course this morning. Smashing day with a good breeze to cool you down :)
Nice one Alf, I remember the terrain well from earlier this year! :)
Just popped out for a 10k fartlek down the boring old flat roads down here.
1.5mile max effort test on the track :( for Phys Ed lesson tomorrow, don't think I'll be anywhere near my April time.
Nice early morning trail run through Wycoller 12mile 1:40 mins, Felt good considering just recovered from a dental infection! :-)
Just back from a hot 11 miler over Ramsden Clough, down the Holme Valley, up Marsden Clough to Wessenden Head, over West Nab & Don the water courses to Slawit. Just over 2000ft & 2 Hours. Time for a gallon of water!
Pots n'Pans - Broadstone Trig - Cotton Famine Road - Ol' Snoopy's - Standing Stones - Round the Res's, what a beautiful evening, great outing :)
Need to find some speed for the Evil Sheriff Off-Road Duathlon in October so embarking on the good old Tabata protocol... did first session this evening... forgot how much it hurts but at least it's over quickly. Oh well, X5 per week for 6 weeks isn't too long.
Good to see you are still out there Phil, twas a great evening as you say
1 down 29 to go......:(
8 miler over steep hills, the first for nearly 4 weeks and it felt hard, but it's always the first hill run back that hurts the most. club run tomorrow.
1.5 mile sprint on the track this aft, coupled with a nice stint in the pool this evening.
9 mile this morning 3 mile sustained round Foulridge reservoir then on canel for a steady plod back 1:05!
I love reading peoples training on this forum, sometimes when I get up and don`t want to go out I read what people put on here and it gets me in the mood to go out and run!!! :-)
40mins in hotel gym. Usual mix of treadmill, bike and stepper
A steady half hour run today, legs feeling last nights race.
A long time ago for running and found it really effective on top of a really solid endurance base.... Tending at the moment to do my morning easy paced run with the dogs (6mile/1000ft) and then tagging the Tabata on the end of that on the playing fields across from my house. Then, I'll get out on the bike in the evening (mixing up road and mtb) for 60-90 minutes trying to get at least 1 solid 20-30 minutes "Sweet Spot" higher zone 3-lower zone 4 effort. Weekend is an easy paced 90-120 minutes run on one day and then a 120-180 hilly bike on the other. Mid September I'll start bringing in some Brick work.
Snuck down to gym for 40minutes again tonight. Managed three sessions plus 500squats whilst I've been away :)
7 miles and 2500ft over the hills on Howden Edge. loads of flies about. but it felt good to be in the hills again and whooped down the descent to the car.
Actually pulled my finger out and panned in my new Bobby Dazzler trainers over 16 miles in 2 hours to John o'Gaunt's Castle. A rather hot day.
I really smiled when I read your post IanDarkPeak! Having had 5 weeks of no running I also "whooped" down my first descent in ages and boy, did it feel good to be back!!
(despite the flies and the ginormous "ant things" that were making a horrendous buzzing noise and flying directly at me!!)
In fact, it was nearly as good as the first post run "vino collapso" which never tastes as good as when you have done some training!!
5.5m up over Norland Moor with pooch then a 3m walk with pooch and daughter:)
Substituted running for 2k Row, 17k on Bike and 1k swim yesterday.
16 mile Pendle and back even managed to do Barley fell race route it was warm though! The views were amazing!
30 minutes in gym, 180 squats. Looking forward to a run out in the Dales on Monday
Just back from an extended version of the Stretton Skyline. Took exactly 4 hours and I reckon it was around 20 miles at least.
Absolutely fantastic route round the Mynd and opposite side of the valley, well recommended.
Gutted I'll miss the race next weekend there, but the Pendle Monster has to be slain! :D
I'm looking forward to you and softie finally putting the Monster to the sword Hursty. I'm up for a trot round FTOP before the race btw if and when you're around ;)
Longest 'run' for a while - 9.2 miles 1900ft (2hrs & a few secs) mix fell/trail run from Halton Heights parking area via Eastby Gate - Eastby (short section of road) - Embsay Gate - Embsay Crag - fell gate above reservoir -Crookrise trig-over heather to main moorland tracks back to HH.
Took it easy throughout including walking the initial part of the descent from Embsay Crag:o!!
I'm feeling really satisfied today, I am feeling that my slow steady (and sometimes frustrating) approach to my recovery/training are starting to pay off.
After work yesterday I ran from Mousehole to St Loy Cove and back on the coast path. My mapping software tells me that it is 8.34 miles with 2125 ft of ascent. I did it in 1 hr 52 min 21 sec.
I am also really pleased with how I seem to be learning to read my body and know what it will do. My return leg was only 2 minutes longer than the way out, so I kept a pretty steady pace. I walked all the flights of steps and the really steep bits. I don't think that I could have gone much faster as I was bolloxed by the end! I don't hurt today, but have a satisfying tired feel in my legs.
Dispite some rain the coast path is staying really dry, nearly a week of no rain, and almost no mud and lots of dust. Somehow I prefer having to wash the dust off my legs when I get back from a run over having to wash mud off!
To top it all it was nice and sunny, with a cooling sea breeze!
My plan was to rest today, but it has been a really grey day and other than getting everything ready for the kids to start school tomorrow, I had not done anything worthwhile, so I decided to go for a quick run, as I seemed to have recovered from yesterdays exertions. After a mile I felt really good, so I decided to carry on. I ended up doing just over 6 miles with 559 feet of ascent on the road barefoot. I hope I still feel OK tomorrow as I had been planning to run then.
Thighs fragged today following a Pendle Hill sesh yesterday: 7mi/2,400ft. Desperately trying to squeeze as much in as I can before next week's Pendle Monster attempt.
Hour or so from home, up to Bolton Bridge on the Dales Way and back via Haw Pike Farm and the golf course. Hard work tbh
