30 minutes in gym, 180 squats. Looking forward to a run out in the Dales on Monday

Just back from an extended version of the Stretton Skyline. Took exactly 4 hours and I reckon it was around 20 miles at least.

Absolutely fantastic route round the Mynd and opposite side of the valley, well recommended.

Gutted I'll miss the race next weekend there, but the Pendle Monster has to be slain!

Longest 'run' for a while - 9.2 miles 1900ft (2hrs & a few secs) mix fell/trail run from Halton Heights parking area via Eastby Gate - Eastby (short section of road) - Embsay Gate - Embsay Crag - fell gate above reservoir -Crookrise trig-over heather to main moorland tracks back to HH.

Took it easy throughout including walking the initial part of the descent from Embsay Crag!!

    Re: Today's Training

I'm feeling really satisfied today, I am feeling that my slow steady (and sometimes frustrating) approach to my recovery/training are starting to pay off.

After work yesterday I ran from Mousehole to St Loy Cove and back on the coast path. My mapping software tells me that it is 8.34 miles with 2125 ft of ascent. I did it in 1 hr 52 min 21 sec.

I am also really pleased with how I seem to be learning to read my body and know what it will do. My return leg was only 2 minutes longer than the way out, so I kept a pretty steady pace. I walked all the flights of steps and the really steep bits. I don't think that I could have gone much faster as I was bolloxed by the end! I don't hurt today, but have a satisfying tired feel in my legs.

Dispite some rain the coast path is staying really dry, nearly a week of no rain, and almost no mud and lots of dust. Somehow I prefer having to wash the dust off my legs when I get back from a run over having to wash mud off!

To top it all it was nice and sunny, with a cooling sea breeze!

    Re: Today's Training

My plan was to rest today, but it has been a really grey day and other than getting everything ready for the kids to start school tomorrow, I had not done anything worthwhile, so I decided to go for a quick run, as I seemed to have recovered from yesterdays exertions. After a mile I felt really good, so I decided to carry on. I ended up doing just over 6 miles with 559 feet of ascent on the road barefoot. I hope I still feel OK tomorrow as I had been planning to run then.

Thighs fragged today following a Pendle Hill sesh yesterday: 7mi/2,400ft. Desperately trying to squeeze as much in as I can before next week's Pendle Monster attempt.

Hour or so from home, up to Bolton Bridge on the Dales Way and back via Haw Pike Farm and the golf course. Hard work tbh
