Lordy....there's a few folk dropping...it's like Beeches Brooke.....
oops for got to say I passed Moscar-Strines road on the way home from the lecture tonight
9.30pm temp 2 degrees, misty but dry
Place now filled!
Had Ofsted and two parents evenings this week, I'll be reet ready for a run the morra, me ha ha. (I'll be the one with the thousand yard stare, dribbling).
Best of luck folks. Very jealous. I'm making the most of the day off I booked ages ago for the race. Nice lie-in, leisurely lunch, and great weather for a run round Pendle later! Enjoy.
good luck everyone, looks like it might be rather foggy.
hopefully I will be joining you next year.
All the best everyone, see you at Edale.
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!
As ever with the very delightful Watershed Race things are not quite going to plan, we The Rucksack Club "Vets" Team are urgently seeking another Supersub!!! Medium paced team, now a mixed team and most probably definately not Vets either, excepting yours truly...
So if you fancy a real Grand Night Out tonight please contact me on 07970 751833..

Hi Yanni - v pleased to hear you will be HPM'ing as usual!!
Only yours truly (me) left from our original RC Vets Team......But, I'm sure we will be back, as ageing trendies often are, in 2012...
PLUS - Spare place now appears to be taken - 3 offers are currently being pursued - thanks folks :)!
Best of luck to the Nuns. Have a great night out. You're definitely better off without me.
Can't believe how many places have become available in the last day or so and there I was worrying I wouldn't get a run out this year... Good luck everyone, I'm sure I will see you all at somepoint through the night !!!
Many thanks to the organisers and marshalls for a great event:thumbup:
But what a disaster!! We missed the clough up to Bleaklow in the clag (not enough of an excuse because loads got there ok) and spent 90 minutes trying to find our way to the checkpoint. Then one of our team got a cramp like pain in his right thigh that would NOT go away. It was all going swimmingly as well. We were 5th team out and by the time we checked in at win hill we were in front, and stayed there until after cutthroat. Our plan for sub 12 was on the cards- we finished in 13:28:angry: Still, a great night out and to be highly recommended.
Yes thanks to Filthy Rich and team
The "nuns" had a good run out ending up 4th overall. lovely night to be out. pretty much nailed Bleaklow, no mistakes any where is what got us there. there were people allover on Bleaklow walking in some strange directions. We then put our foot down and ran hard to the finish catching the rollerbladers only for them to push on and finish a couple a minutes a head of us. so well done to Grouse and co, I don't think they really wanted to race in after nearly ten hours.
Fantastic run from Zlod and Flippers Gang getting the fastest time for years.
lovely run over Howden and bleaklow, no hat, no gloves and no water proofs. Coldest place was running over Lords seat!
one or two were running in shorts although Luvshack was fully dressed! Bumped in to PhilT just before Swainshead.
Great event and I havent qualified for next year! so with luck I won't have to do it.......;)
Evidently you're all still in bed.
When you wake up, why not re-live the joys of a very claggy Lords Seat ... and Brown Knoll ... and Kinder ... and ...
Pictures here, though if you were one of the teams taking a cunning lower line below Brown Knoll then I'm afraid we missed you.
Well I'm "up" again....just about managed to heave the ageing carcus out of me pit!!!
Just to reiterate - A VERY VERY BIG THANK-YOU to the fantastic Team of Marshalls,
who entertained in more than equal quality to their effecient & joyful marshalling in some pretty nasty claggy, damp & very chilly conditions..
+ A REAL BIG THANK-YOU TO FILTHY RICH (& THE LADY ON RESULTS)
+ HIGH PEAK CLUB FOR THE VERY ABLE ORGANISATION..Of this years event,
I'm sure all of our Team will be back...
More than likely with a fitter & faster Team Captain..
Than yours truly...!!!
Twas Great Fun!!
Pub Next!
PS Green Flash - fraid/thankfully you missed us, we did indeed take the sneaky lower line,
popped out at the rather amazing Cairn - which contains the superb inscribed "Rushup Edge Stone"...
Thanks to all the orgaisers, a great night out again, but it didn't feel like it at the time, hardest I've known it personally because I was so tired after a mad week, literally fighting to keep awake over Bleaklow and slowing the Bladers down, but dead chuffed to get round in and have a run in with the nuns.
Woweeee, what a fantastic event  First HPM & first over nighter (since my party days that is) hats off to the navigators, its hard!
Big thanks to the organisers & marashalls, and of course to my team mates (calder valley) Special thanks to Mrs Stagger, think we managed to gossip pretty much the whole way round, it does make the time fly by :D
Hopefully see you all again next year!!
PS Lost property - managed to leave my black trail blaze poles in the hall, propped up next to the tea & coffee table. Please let me know if they turn up anywhere, I have a friend who lives locally who may be able to pick them up - thankyou
This was my first HPM. What an event! Thankyou so much to all the organisers and a special thanks to the marshals. At times it was pretty grim out there and to be cheered and encouraged through by lovely people in fancy dress was a real boost. Despite feeling a bit broken, I've already got that "next year" feeling.
Not a good first time for me, a member of our team started getting stomach cramps at Win Hil, they got worse and by Moscar he was close to losing conciousnous, he retired there. The rest of us carried on plum last, we started to overtake a few teams, but another team members knee started to trouble him and by cut gate he could barely walk, we walked him down to the emergency camp at slippery stones with the intention of continuing, we were told however that we would not be allowed to, so there ended our race. I'm not put off, I know that without these problems we had ten and a half hour potential and will be submitting an entry next year.
What an amazing experience. It was our first time and we managed to find our way round with ease thanks to our top navigators Phil and Jackie. It was quite a sight seeing all the lights behind us, like something out of an alien film. The section from Outer Edge to Swaines Head seemed endless and I can't believe how quickly the hours slipped by. By dawn the mist had come in with a bit of drizzle for good measure but it didn't dampen our spirits. Thanks to Tea & Cake for keeping me entertained - that's what makes these things doable, having a good friend who you can talk drivvle to for 12 and a half hours. Thanks to the organisers for making us feel very welcome and the CP marshals were just the best, well done guys and gals. How do you stay so chirpy at 3 o'clock in the morning?
I felt like I'd been run over by a bus when I got out of bed this morning but I'm starting to feel human again, roll on next year!!
Great event as usual, great support and a very nice atmosphere pre and post race. Toughest conditions I've ran it in, it all looked promising early on, clear skies and a good chance of frozen ground somehow turned into gloopy peat with thick cloud on the hardest part of the course.
Just got 3rd again, managed to fend off a late surge from IanDP's team.
I struggled most of the way, been much quicker than that and not felt so shattered at the end.
Me too. Might do a bit of training for next year.
Great event yet again.. Had a good run with no real mistakes which was quite good after only meeting the other half of the team an hour before we started. Bumping in to Ian DP on route to swains head worked good for our moral as at least we knew we were going the right way.. Thanks to all the marshals who made us smile on more than one occasion.. Definitely be back next year for a third attempt .....
Just had a peek at the pics',
Brilliant!!!!
More than one, deserve to be front cover on the next Fell Runner...
