Made cider when living in Wiltshire with an apple tree out the front, but as a Yorkshireman I prefer bitter. Called in to Barley Bottom in Silsden this morning en route to the Windmills Whizz and collected supplies for the next 25 gallons.
It's sometimes hard to decide whether I'm a runner who brews or vice versa. But I've done my time with the Hash House Harriers in Berlin and Cyprus so it's probably a bit of both.
Once had a very messy time in the kitchen attempting to juice a few pounds of Granny Smiths and a few more pounds of donated Egremont Russets. I soon realised that a food processor has it's limits and is not the correct tool for this particular job. I ended up with half a barrel of unfermented fetid mush and a bollocking for messing the kitchen up so quickly moved on to Aldi's 100 percent finest apple juice as a starting point.
Ditch the Kenwood. You need a couple of bits of wood in a frame and a car jack.
Brewing is a garage or out-house activity, though I'm a house-husband and so my wife isn't allowed in the kitchen except for making tea in the morning.
No real ale in the house so had to opt for a corona :( the drunken husband came home and decided to 'fix me a drink' whilst I am in my weakened state (yeah right, grovelling more like:rolleyes:) due to his inebriation however failed to recognise the difference between a lime and a lemon so now it's ruined :rolleyes:
Tsk,tsk. Blokes these days, hey?

Just popping out for a few warmers into the bank at the Lichfield beer festival before heading into Wadworths stomping ground in Devizes tonight. Today's training is cancelled.
A few jars of 'Pride of Sheffield', Kelham Island brewery, for this evening.
A straightforward but lovely pint. :)
Brampton Brewerys Tudor Rose (Chesterfield) very good indeed.:)
Spooky, had a pint of Kelham Island Pale Rider in Lichfield (very nice), then a Lichfield Musketeer (drinkable) and washed them down with a Belgian Gouden Carolus Ambrio (superb).
Moved to Devizes and had far too much wine and whisky. Ran it all off this morning proving the route for the new Collingbourne Ducis 'Bluebell Wood' race being held on 25 April by my old club at Pewsey Vale.
