I'm in the masochistic mood no problem - thanks to a forum critic who can remain nameless here!

When I lived in Macclesfield I used to do hill reps on Shooters Clough, 8 reps of roughly five minutes up. Seemed to work wonders on the racing at the time. Unfortunately I now live 40 minutes away so the little local ones have to count.
30 stair reps in the bag, 54 mins, calf sore but not broken!
Used paper clips to count; it worked well
" I built up from 3 climbs to 30 between January and April (30x102 steps) "- Stef F.
I built up to 60x25 steps - nowhere near as tough as 102 steps all at once - and x30 - respect! The main problem I have with it is boredom - I put on the radio which helps. It does mean sore calves for the next few days; I only do this session when for one reason or another I cannot go out.
Yesterday a short snappy fell race from Langsett, Washington Wasp, fast and furious with some serious bracken bashing, managed a second some how had legs like a jelly at the end...:)
Green flash was also running
This morning was a 13 mile 1500ft run from Fairholms to Margery hill returning back via the HPM route taking in the sneaky SloeGin box! Back to the car and straight on to the Cross bike for another 12 miles, I thought this would be the death of me but no! flew round Ladybowyer.
Rest now until the Oughtibridge Chase....erm....Tomorrow!
Yesterday - 7.8 miles on Dorset farm land in an hour followed by 200 squats.
Today - an hour of squash followed by 200 squats.
My first hill rep session yesterday..
I have found a steep hill that is almost runable (first time) with a height gain of approx 200ft then a gentle jog round the back to the start. Did 4 reps with the 5th topping out another 200ft higher. The reps took 30 mins with a 15 min warm up to get there and same home again. Could only just walk at the end of it, legs feel heavy today.
Having not done these type of sessions before does this sound about right??
3rd week of training for the Snowdon race. A steep/hilly run upto/around Rachub today. Hard work, but starting to feel the benefit of ensuring that all my training runs at the mo contain at least one "climb". Hoping to do my 1st fell race next Tuesday after missing out on the Great Orme fell race last night
10 minutes steady run across fields and up and over a hill. 12 hill reps on the next hill - 2 more stones than last week. 8 minutes of fast undulating running back home. aiming for 15 reps next week.
9 mile hilly run last night with a clubmate in about 1:03 including about 900ft of climbing. Started along river at Horsforth up to the treatment works at Esholt (about 5 miles), then sharp right to climb 700-800ft in 1.5-2.0 miles to the top of the Billing before a quick sharp descent back to the clubhouse. Enjoyed pushing hard tonight and felt pretty good, one of my favourite routes.
Todays training was a little local race. Now there ain't many hills where I live but this little gem was a killer for me. My first 5K race ever ...Penshaw Hill...ouch! I'm not cut out for these fast and furious things. I need more practise at anaerobic running and definately haven't been gifted with fast twitch fibres! :w00t:
9 miles over Baildon, Burley & Bingley Moors last night. Finished off with 5 pints in The Old Glen. Rough this morning. Going back to not drinking methinks !
Steady 4 mile round Eccup Res this morning at 6am, it's great running that early, just wildlife everywhere and no people. Love it
3 1/2 hours out with Mikey P round the peaks. Roaches, Shutlingsloe, Cat and Fiddle, Debyshire Bridge, Axe edge, Flash and back. Started off with good weather and then it turned ever so slightly pants with driving cold rain. We met two friends, twice, going the opposite way on a six trigs rounds.
Parkrun Leeds this morning, 17:58 for 5th place. No PB and felt crap most of the way round from setting off to quick. Never mind, still best position I've had at Leeds.
Had a steady 90 mins plod in the rain this morning, felt c#@p had no energy and ankle started hurting on the outside of the ball joint thingy.... Hey Ho bike tomorow now.
13m in 1:50 this morning through Harewood and back. Better run than last time I ran this route but a bit wet! Felt good despite racing yesterday. Love getting out really early on a Sunday, nobody else about at 6:30am
9 miles over Holmw Moss to Balck Hill, West Nab and home via the water courses. Nice.
Best weekends training (for the Snowdon race) to date - just over 24 miles and 3600ft in total, although partly due to taking a wrong turn past Llyn Crafnant and ending up the Crimpiau. Really enjoying this fell running lark!
3 ascents and descents of Loosehill from gate, just above loosehill Hotel. pretty even splits of just under to just over 16 minutes per interval.
6 reps on Butser Hill. 12-13 minutes each, and was checked in by a skylark perched on the trig pillar each time!
11 miles 2700 feet.
5 x 150ft hill reps. Hard work as very hot and humid evening
Monday nights usual short hard fast run around the towpath, footpaths and gravel tracks that form my circuit. Seem to be getting some speed up again which is good.
Nice 6.30 a.m trot over Baildon & Bingley Moors. 8.25 miles. Even had time to nip into The Terrace, in Saltaire, for a quick coffee before work. Looking forward to my sons "speed & endurance" session at Ilkley Harriers tonight !
I have bramble scratches, nettle stings, some mud on my legs and some bugs in my hair :D Must be signs of a good run surely?? Legs felt like lead though. I am really no good at this running malarky, but I will keep trying and enjoying being rubbish at it
Pfft, maybe next year.... or the year after? :o
In all honesty though, when life settles down as I am sure it will, I will get on it MG  In the mean time I shall try a bit harder to tick over and maybe get some little races under my belt :o
Regular tough club run again tonight, 9.3 miles with about 800ft climb done in 65 mins. I love this route, all the climbing is between mile 5 and 7 so it's tough going with a lovely fast descent to finish off.
1st fell race last night - 3 hills in Penmaenmawr - totally bonkers - the 2nd two hills were practically vertical and were a scramble through gorse and sheep poo. 2.85miles and 1520ft per my Garmin - I have never walked/crawled/scrambled so much in a race before. I think it was a bit too extreme/mental for me, although I'm glad I did it!
I'm heading for the stairs and I'm not leaving the stairwell until I've done 42 reps.
It's been a very frustrating day today so there should be plenty of pent up anger to get me through it.
Hum....I guess it'll be about an hour and a quarter...here goes!
........42 reps done, 1:14:10. That stairwell was roasting
