6x1km reps on a flat road.
looking forward to a showdown with The Reverend at Sunday's XC!
An 18/19 mile loop from Storiths taking in Simon's Seat, Howgill, Dales Way past Appletreewick, Kail Lane, Trollers Gill, Simon's Seat again and the long way back to Storiths.
Cool and wet enough for a cag.
And, sadly, not enough time for a bacon butty and lashings of tea at Buffers.
8 hilly road miles in the fog this morning, I've got my car back now so watch out hills I'm back...........
My running so far this week has been what I can best describe as scratty! On Monday evening I ran a 'glorious' route up the canal out of Leeds city centre and ended up getting lost amongst all the dark factories, dog end streets and dual carriageways between where I work and Elland Road before finding my way back, on Tuesday because I had to go to London I ran at 5 'fricking' am (thats 5 am!) around and about Settle with my headtorch on, Wednesday evening was a 'stunning' 4 miler taking in the 'best that' Bradford's back streets can offer starting from the Richard Dunne sports centre and then, for both Thursday and Friday, it was runs along the Thames, in and out of dodgy Jack the Ripper like back streets from London Bridge.
All in my fell shoes of course... so it counts :)
15miles / 6000ft in Lakes recceing leg 3 with a club-mate / 2012 contender. Nice day on the hill and my longest outing for many a month!
18.12 miles 2654ft climb taking in some Settle hills, Fountains Fell, bit of the Pennine Way, Stainforth, the Foss, and back along the Ribble to Settle.
Plenty of tussock and bog, some interesting nav in poor visibility, 3hrs 50 odd mins?? (with breaks for map reading & tucker)
15miles on road today as I got up at 5
On night's tonight woke up by my oldest this morning , not happy , starting using my bike for work tonight so that will be 10 mile round trip, done 30 miles last 3 days rough hills and road

did a fast 7 yesterday so quads are a bit sore today, off to do a short 3 in 10 mins in the dark as only have 30 mins before I have to pick sprout up from cubs
Great run round Rossett Pike, Bowfell, Esk Pike, Great End, Scafell Pike, Scafell, Slight Side and Blisco yesterday... late autumn sunshine in a deserted Eskdale was a real "this is why I run" experience. The climb up towards Little Stand less so!
Wont be a secret for too much longer if the Great Lakes Run is a championship race in 2012 as rumoured. No doubt there will be mass reccying taking place.
PS I think Gt Lakes run is one of the best Lakeland races even though I've only done it once - I think it will surprise a few
35 mins swimming. Did some drills (fist drills and swimming with static legs ) alternating a length of drill then one of swimming.
Last 10 mins normal swimming focusing on overall technique. Was quite enjoyable
5k road run last night should have been easy but felt hard, did not run any faster than normal.
Tough hill training yesterday with my lad followed by some sprint training , tonight I'll be biking to work again
Last night qualified as a 'sanity run' and oh it was fun. 5 miles racing the dark, me and the dog - onto the fells, down through the forest. No HRM, no watch, no headtorch; just one of those headlong gallops that do your head so much good.
Flipping marvellous. Woke up this morning still smiling. We are very very lucky, guys!
road run, to wear some new shoes in! lot of people running on pendle, think i'll give that a miss for a few days.. tuesday, where to run on tuesday???
A nice run over the first quater of the Trigger from Marsden to Soldiers Lump and back. Super inversion around Wessenden Res. 10.5 miles and 1700 ups and down in 1:46. Attachment 5365
Don't find myself around here much what with the summer races and that, but now winter's here and the racing scene is drawing to a close i've found myself having to do some training! A breakfast at Buffers set me up nicely for the day.
Did a super rough out and back loop, 6.5m 2000'- starting from Halton Gill in Littondale i took the footpath over the fell to Beckermonds, then Dales Wayed it down Langsrothdale to Hagg Gill at the base of Horse Head. Then an ascent of Horse Head following the wall line to the trig, and back down a crazy descent into Littondale. The fog lifted and it turned into a smashing day, although surrounding fells were in the clag all day. I stopped in at Appletreewick on the way back for a beef baguette and a sticky toffee pudding, and i don't think the fog had lifted all day. I tripped over a tussock on the way down into Beckermonds and got a faceful of more tussocks at full tilt...nice.
Mrs E and baby E went to church for a christening, so I went for a run to find somewhere religious but older.
Did 6 and a bit miles, and a decent amount of climbing, along Stanage Edge and then to the stone circle on Bamford Moor, across rough ground to the 7 stone ring at Hordron edge.
Brilliant run in alternating thick fog and bright sunshine. Forgot my decent compass so used the little emergency one in my bumbag - pleased with myself for hitting the second stone circle dead on the middle from 600m away. Hopefully got some nice moody pics of the stone circles in the fog too.
After months of running other ‘to do’ routes, finally got up Rye Loaf Hill today. Setting off in the clag, down Watery Lane, up to Peart Crags and onto the Pennine Bridleway.
Then up New Pasture Lane, Langber Lane to Brookilber Barn, from here across High Langber to Ebor Gate.
At Ebor Gate the clag started to lift, and after following the wall up past the mast to the top of Rye Loaf Hill, we were in bright clear sunshine with an inversion giving us a spectacular view over rolling cloud to Penyghent and Ingleborough . Then we set off across the deep tussocks to Kirkby Fell, had a look at the old quarrying, and dropped down onto the Settle Loop to have a look at the (rather underwhelming) Nappa Cross. We set off back along Settle Loop past Stockdale Farm, Attermire Scar, Middle High Hill, Banks Lane and home.
13.74 miles and 2375ft climb, most of the distance was spent cursing the fact that I’d left my camera at home.
Staurday 10k along the Dalesway from Addingham to Bolton Bridge
5K aerobic running last night on roads
race 6 of the monday night series, 6 miles and 1100ft road in 39.55
6 miles up and down the Wessenden Valley with the headtorch. 750 ft ups and downs in 55 mins. It was clear and the sky was full of stars. Nice.
Snowdon race route, 2hrs 2 mins, but I started further up Victoria terrace rather than The Victoria hotel. First ever time I've ran in the real mountains as well, albeit a well trodden path.Loved it.
12k club run, good but hard very hilly going down into Baildon and then back up Hollins Hill to the club house.
Great run last night with the guerilla Warts, can't say too much as it's with clandestine running group:)
But loads of climbing over rough ground under head torch round bleaklow...shhhh
Couple of hours bouldering at an indoor climbing centre, bloody great fun:thumbup:
