Dog's got a fair pair of earies when it's windy;)

Cold round here too. By necessity did 12 brisk(ish) road miles on the lanes around the back of Pannal and Burn Bridge. I always feel uncomfortable round there, keep thinking someone in a tweed cap, a shotgun and a superior attitude is going to appear and order me off their land.
Steady trot up the Beacon, over to Ilkley and back home on Dales Way. Called for coffee and cake in Ilkley :o
Saturday 20k, along Dalesway to Ilkley then up to Middleton across to Roundhill and along to Beamsley, did not stop in Ilkley for coffee and cakes like some, but it was an ab-fab day out.
35k/2600m from Braithwaite over Cat Bells, Maiden Moor, High Spy, Dale Head, Hindscarth, Robinson, down to Buttermere, up to Whiteless Pike, Grasmoor, Hopegill Head, Grisedale Pike and back down to Braithwaite. Stunning weather again. Sharper wind today on the tops. A grand day out.
Approx 12 miles over Rombalds (again), took Alfie, my trusty black and tan Jack Russell (see pic, sorry a bit small, can't figure out how to enlarge it once on the forum). Absolutely beautiful day, sunshine, all bogs frozen solid, clean crisp air, nice crunch of ice and frost underfoot. Met up with some fellsmen from Ilkley Harriers who were recceing Rombalds stride and generously allowed me to tag along for a while, unfortunately Alfie kept getting under their feet (no sense at all that dog):o

12 miles myself Protodoc over Rombalds way. Didn't see any other runners though. As you say, a truly stunning day. Felt humbled by the beauty of the moors & how lucky I am to live so close to them.
6m to work, 6m home, 4m tonight with dog, felt good untill Crumblydown texted me from the lakes with tales of sunshine, mountains and beer!
6 * 500m reps, on an easy week for Stanbury and want to do well in the Addingham Andycapp

All running done at a slow, recovery pace though.
That sounds pretty solid. I clocked up 39 miles running last week, experimenting with running 5 days out of seven.
blackcombe fell race route 8m 3400ft
frozen under foot, clear skies but hard work with a cold good to get out thow!
Ran a circuit of the Borrowdale fells from the A6 at hucks bridge. Clear skies and not a soul in sight.
Swift couple of miles with headtorch and dog, the dirty terrier rolled in summatt nasty again, showered and asleep now, dog not me:wink:
10k club run last night, cold air hard on the lungs.
Sedbergh-Arant Haw-the Calf-back again via Winder. A lovely but bloody freezing run. Wind was biting cold. About 2800' and 8 miles I'd say. Didn't see a soul up there. Nice to get a run in on the way to a meeting!
Hard long interval reps with the Harriers last night on the Stray in Harrogate, 6 miles approx and was knackered after. That Ian Rowbotham works us hard!
Dunmail-Langdale Pikes and back 14m/3500' Tuesday.
Skiddaw via Latrigg 10m/3000' yesterday.
8.4 miles 1330' slightly extended lunchtime run in local hills (well it is friday :D )
Got dropped off in Pateley Bridge and ran home via the Nidderdale Way, Lofthouse Moor and the Ripon Rowell. 22.7m and 2080'. Starting to feel a little bit easier...thank goodness!:)
Half a Hill repeat session in a wet Etherow Country Park. Felt terrible and abandoned half way through.
Retired to the sofa and cheered myself up by entering Wasdale.
10 miles/66mins backwards and forward between the Hare and Hounds and The Dusty Miller near Bury. Road miles I know (but all in aid of the Cotswold Marathon next month.) Stanbury Splash tomorrow.
To be scrupulously honest, it was last night's run - went out at 9pm. I couldn't find a thread called "yesteday's training" though.
Ah! :)
Quick circular from Osmotherley this morning, returning on the Cleveland way, nice January day on the hills!
Up the front of Wansfell - 100 steps fast, 40 walking, 100 fast, etc, trying to work harder than normal. Too windy to stand on the summit, and back down like a nancy on the steep wet stuff.
Am trying to get going after a several months illness and fatigue. Just finished 4th week of training averaging 30 miles per week inc some races, but am frighteningly behind in fitness for time of year.
Did Calder valley way this pm, thought trail shoes were a good idea but did not take into account the fact a couple of hundred people on the Hebden had run most of the same route so it was a bit slippy. Slow run round (3.15) but furthest run since last May and helps move my head on a bit. Dog loved it.
7.7 miles 950' mostly road with a little reservoir embankment work thrown in.
27mile road run yesterday, hopefully the last bit of tarmac bashing for a good long while. Doing nowt but drinking tea and snoozing on the sofa today, legs are knackered.
Just over 40miles for the week
Ten miles and 1400 ft ups in 1:40. From Pennine way A62 Up old pw, on a bearing across to new pW, Blakely clough, Wessendedn, west Nab & home. Got blown off the path at West Nab, a tad breazy.
Practised being a kite today , good fun around Kinder Edges and nice to see a few like minded runners on the way .
20 road miles/2.38 on Saturday, Stanbuary Splash yesterday, today... likely just a slow 5 to get the muscles moving again later on.
12 miles today. Some great views of bowfell and the langdales from above Kendal.
Parked in Langdale and up to Sergeant Man, then BG route to Bowfell, on over the Crinkles, Pike o' Blisco and back to the car. Some pretty unpleasant snow showers early on blowing through on an icy wind, but it turned fairer as the morning went on. Was surprised at how much snow there was going up the rakes on Bowfell; I was kicking steps a couple of times.
Bad Step was interesting, especially as at the top I saw some recent footprints that seemed to suddenly vanish and a stray crampon away at the bottom of the step. I wondered what I might find down there, thinking someone might've had a fall. Turns out the bloke had picked a route off to the left of the step and contrived to lose his crampon on the way down. I found this out after catching him up and re-uniting him with his crampon!
