My God, that Rescue Ale's going to taste good tonight!
Bring an umbrella. It is persisting it down here, (three miles down t'valley from Marsden). Even the ducks look miserable.
Ok, i'm up, it's bloody raining, i feel crap, need a fag, look like a zombie........things can only get better:rolleyes:
Have a good un everyone;)
Stopped raining right on que.
On yer marks
GO
Have a good un everyone:)
Wild Boat Clough eh!:) It's wet but not that wet..........!
Leaders going well through Crowden. Overhead conditions improving but still must be very wet underfoot. Most of the early leaders seem to be going left at the check point and hence up either Lawrence Edge or Wild Boar Clough.
Good luck forumites, i'm just sitting down to a bacon and egg sarnie with a pot of Punjana, weather's not too bad here.
Well at least it wasn't windy and it didn't rain.
And the chair lift up to Seal Stones was a bonus.
Thanks Ian and Andy and everyone else involved in the organising. Another Grand Day Out!
Well done everyone!!
Pictures just starting to upload http://www.flickr.com/photos/finniga...7622822890777/
:):)
wow - i think i learned a lot today
like if you eat cake in the bath you get crumbs in your tummy button
and if you walk looking backwards cos of hail - you might go slightly off line
i was so slow i missed all of the presentation - except for the last round of applause oops
if only:rolleyes:
just got home
Well done to all competitors, It was a toughy today, lots of water, mud ,wind, hail. very soft under foot but at least there was no snow around.
All competitors returned safe and sound and sort of looking happy. plenty of muddy smiley faces.
Did any one else fall off the submerged bridge on the climb up Blackhill? I was glad Grouse was just in front to show me where not to go:D
From memory
Well done to Adam on his race win, not sure how old he was but must have been one of the youngest in the race.
Daz Second Fine effort
joint third was Julien and Mark O followed in by last years winner Matt
First lady was Karen D in 8 or 9th
First team were Dark Peak ( Due to Tankys Rule of first 4 from a club) on points Pennine would have got it by a single point so I put some extra beer in the Pennine bus to compensate.
Ladies team was won by Dark Peak
I managed to scrape in 6th beating my target time with 3.24.:D
I'll post full results as soon as they are sent through.
Thanks to the Tanky's family and helpers and also to the rest of Woodhead team. it will have been a long day on the hills for them.
Cheers all
IDP
Thanks Finnigan they look great.
and isn't this sweet....:o

Tanky's Trog is done! A classic Peakland day out racing in the sun, hail, wind and rain. Does it get any better? I think not
Big thank you to IDP and Andy P plus the MR lads :)
yeah a big thank you to MR peeps especially all those who stopped me getting washed away in rivers.
(unfortunately there wasn't a pennine runner to hand when i was crossing)
Oh, and a big thank you to Mrs Stagger for the lift and use of warm blanket :)

Yes I did Ian! Glad no one saw me, I must have looked a right muppet, at least it was a soft landing if a slightly wet one. It was only a couple of weeks ago I was showing Emmilou and Jo the very same bridge.
Thanks to all the organisers for a fab day and especially the Mountain Rescue who were dotted all over the route keeping us safe. They were greatly appreciated at the river crossings too as I nearly got washed away on more than one occassion.
Well done Ian on beating your target and Daz for a 2nd place, great running by both of you. All those shortcuts are really paying off!
Who's this bold fellow in black here going for an overtake in the beck? Balls the image is private, it's IMG_0121...and i salute your bravery sir :D

My first Tanky's and a brilliant, brilliant event! I honestly don't think it would have been as much fun if the ground/weather had been better. Those stream crossings were really memorable!
Thanks alot to the organisers, members of Woodhead MRT who turned out and Finnigan Jones for the photos.
Will definitely be back next year.
Jules.
But he beat me. He can bleedin' well cross on his own next time! :D
Well a jolly good day I'd say. Grim but jolly. I had a disgraceful time, if I wasn't very nearly last then I was very actually last, but I didn't seem to annoy anyone.
Thanks Ian, Andy and everyone else especially the mountain rescue people.
Great effort - well done guys. Adam is 21 I think, and that was his 3rd Tanky's. Also, he did his BG last year. What's he going to do when he grows up? Sorry, Adam - only kidding!
Here's just half a dozen photo's taken at Crowden before I remembered I was supposed to be handing out food. - http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/GeoffB...959/TankyS2009#
Well done to everyone today, found it hard work with BOYflu still knocking hell out of me!
Thanks to Andy and Ian and all concerned for putting the race on, thanks also to Geoff B for the scoff and drink and Manhar for the crimble cake, top blokes.
Had a few close shaves with the bogmonster, one of them head first, be reet, wet wipes next time daz, well done on the 2nd place.
Oh, and a big thanks to Mrs.Stagger for the transport:)
Well done on your 6th IDP.
Bet you didn't go the extended torside diversion! lol!
Happy enough with my run under 5 hours (might have been nearer 6 if i had gone the scenic route):)
Thanks to one and all for the support and encouragement all the way round.
However top of torside/bleaklow was a bit bleak - i seemed to be by myself for long stages.
Decided not to follow the majority of runners but stick with the route that i had reccied previously.
Will need to reccie the alternatives next time!
Really enjoyed the day. should be back for more in the future!
PS well done daz!
to add to my previous long thank you post
Thanks Lucazade for coming along and handing out free energy bars etc and to Accelerate for the numbers.
Also LOST STUFF
I have a 'Nice' hat and a pair of Waterproof Pants. if these are yours they can be reclaimed with a description.
Thanks to all the organisors and helpers, they were all in abundance, thanks to the MR men although the sausages frying nearly had me anchoring on for a picnic!!
Thanks also to the splendiferous Geoff B for the jelly baby and water duty and to the lovely Manhar stood all on his lonesone on a very windy hill with Christmas cake, what a star :D Have you thawed out yet, you looked frozen, dedication indeed and much appreciated.
Enjoyed the run even if was endless torrents of water, thigh deep bogs, slippy and very slidy flags, wind, rain and HAIL ...ooooooouch!
Well done all.
Daz was that a go faster hat you had on ;) Very well done, don't drop your mug! :p
HAIL was extremely painful for us gentlemen with thinning hair :( Thinking about a toupee next year, just in case ;)
I don't like it when one strikes you in the eyeball, not too nice
I got value for money again! Not quite sure I'll be queuing up for an entry next year (another one done - ticked the box!) Think the effects of a week in the States and a road marathon have taken more out of me than I thought.
Some absolutely cracking views. Think I'll go back in the car to have another look!
