That's a Budweiser advert:D
What is that in your cup Alf? I think it is alive!
None for me either, but as it is my weekend, I did have a cheeky shot of Tia Maria in my hot chocolate :closed:
Tesco!!! Tesco's own Ginger Beer at 3.8% - far superior to Crabbies - it's brewed by Williams of Alloa who make some fabulous beer (Fraoch, Grozet, etc). Trouble is it's so good that Tesco will probably drop it fairly quickly (slightly hazy, too tasty) or make Williams alter the recipe for a less discerning clienteale (now there's a good misstype) so get it while you can - 3 bottles for £4!!!
Ok, this is serious. I'm a big Crabbies fan. Crabbies is 5% so Tesco's loses out there.....
But, how does it differ in flavour and sparkle?
Is it as strongly ginger flavoured, is it as sparkly, and is it more or less dry?
Scuse the inquisition but I would hate to be disappointed!
Yes I would like to know too. I found crabbies a bit sweet, but might have to try this here Tesco one. Is it more gingery?
Cumberland Ale tonight to go with the footy (or is it the other way round ;) )
Brewed for Tesco by BrewDog Brewery the American Double IPA.... an absolute gob full of hoppy loveliness but, at 9.2% ABV, a bit on the pokey side.
A couple or three of a Bass clone while I brew up 5 gallons of Wood's Shropshire Lad.
That's shocking! I had to part with £3.15 for a Golden Pippen today and it was served chilled! I asked why and apparently "that's how our customers like it", oh really. WEll this one doesn't and it shouldn't be served as such you 'orrible oik...... It's only £2.20 in my local.
Actually Mr Onehill had a pint of something almost as strong by Brewdog once, he soldiered on through about half, then gave up :o
I am working 12 hour shifts all weekend in Londres Stef so felt I should make the most of my day off :D We did also discuss xmas beer and pork pie buying while in the pub - getting the important stuff sorted nice and early.
This evening I think I shall put my feet up, but perhaps no more beers. Early start tomorrow
@onehill - Brew Dog's ales coming to the Narrow Boat soon - can't wait
Tonight, they had my favourite beer on - Jaipur.
Please don't visit the Boat cos they only have 4 barrels and I don't want anybody else drinking it!
Might be a trip out on Friday :)
Cumberland Ale and Copper something or other. hic.:)
Sounds like this is the same as Brewdog Hardcore IPA. Their Punk IPA is less strong but still wonderfully hoppy.
Back to the Tesco Ginger Beer - it's not as sweet as Crabbie's or Franks, very refreshing and definitely ginger. Bit like champagne!!!
And finally - the best draft ginger beer I ever had was at a brewpub in the Glasgow suburbs called the Clockwork Beer Factory - this was a bit cloudy and over 5%.
whilst this talk of Ginger beer is all very entertaining (and informative) I feel it should be moved to it's own thread - Today's Ginger Beer (alcoholic), maybe. After all this is a Real Ale thread!
On the subject of Ginger Beer: it has to be Bundabergs with a splash of dark rum.
Anywho back to the Real Ale. It's a lottery tonight as Superflygal is buying a selection of bottles from the shop.
Oh I absolutely will Stef http://forum.fellrunner.org.images/smilies/cool.png I consider it my duty. I may save them for my trip to Castleton in 3 weeks.... Or they may not last that long!
So c'mon then - what is everyone drinking tonight???
Woods Shropshire Lad
Titanic White Star - local brew from Stoke
Found a bottle of snecklifter. Def the last one
Dom I called at mars tons brewery the other day. Where do you bloody park. Yellow lines everywhere. I gave up.
Landlord - Front Room
Hey, it's my front room!
I've worked in one or two :)
Facer's Bendigedig at the Goldie. On the other side of the mountain it's Facer's Splendid but we're a bit Welsh over here.
Just settling down with a chicken balti and a couple of bottles of Batemans "Dark Lord" (those nice people at Morrisons have replenished their supplies).
Just enjoying a nice bottle of Tag Lag picked out for me by my 13 month old. Thanks son:)
Blimey L.F.F, I read that as ....picked UP by....!!
I had a a bottel of Brew Dog Punk IPA. which despite reservations about being over-marketed and a bit 'trendy' was very tasty indeed. I think I will be back down to Mozzers for a few more as they are on offer at the mo.
