Bowderdale to the Calf to Yarlside and back, about 12 miles in sunshine, no blizzard, no sunshine, no blizzard!! Although the weather couldn't make up it's mind the overall effect was brilliant :)

I'm not one to wee on someone's bonfire, and I like nowt more than a long day in the hills on my own, but calling it a "wilderness adventure" all sounds a bit Bear Grylls... i.e. self-consciously "ooh, look at me, I done an adventure!". Surely the 'Long Distance' section covers the proper epic stuff?
Now, if in the course of your run you have to whittle a compass from a pine-cone and eat your own shoes just to survive, then we might be talking.
Cycle ride today? Nah, hangover instead!
Not really training but a classic Dark peak Race
Todays Edale Circle race was a cracker, 9 miles 4000ft, stunning blue sky, hard frozen ground, great racing with route variation and great company, the last climb to Lords seat must rank as one of the toughest in the DP calender. If you weren't racing then the route would be a classic hill session with out following the usuall routes. the reverse of the down and up from the skyline in mid race is just icing on the cake.
A pint of Belgian Blue slipped down beautifully, only wished I had some one to drive me home as I could have drunk much more....:)
Filthy Rich gave me a pasteing but Grimmer had a nasty fall, Hope your arm is ok mate, Greenflash and one or two others also racing.
9m with dog, cracking weather and great views.

A nice jaunt up the old PW to the summit of Black Hill and down to Wessenden Head, up west Nab and accross the tussocks to Hey Sike and along Deer Hill and home. 11.2 miles in 1:56:30 with 1300 ft ups.
Nice 18m loop from Rivington. Over Great Hill, around Belmont and back over Winter Hill. Lovely crisp conditions.
11.6 miles from work, in Saltaire, over Baildon, Bingley & Ilkley Moors back to Burley. Windy !
Anyone been out and about in 3 Peaks area today ?
Thinking of having a run round tomorrow weather permitting
Another great post work run, 6-7 miles of grinning fun
The last race of the local winter road race league, Very windy and dark at times but a lovely run back with the wind pushing you along, 6.3 mile 750ft, pacey but not flat out in 44.43.
Then late for a MR night ex Picked up my kit and ran 2 miles up Cut gate in a mealstrom of wind, not cold though so good fun.
30k/2100m of grim from Patterdale this morning. Up over Saint Sunday Crag, Fairfield, Seat Sandal, Dollywagon Pike, Nethermost Pike, Helvellyn, Whiteside and back to Patterdale. Then resisted the strong urge to get out of the wet and in to the car for a coffee, heading up Boredale Hause and on to Place Fell. Weather lifted briefly as I hit the summit and meandered a way down off to the north west, coming across loads of deer. Good stuff.
3500 ft on Frodsham Hill (18 reps). Plenty of dog walkers trying to make their minds up whether I was to be admired or whether I should be locked up as a lunatic. I tend to hold the latter view myself.
Only 5.5 miles round ladybower dam, then 30 mins on the turbo & 20 mins of kettlebells for upper body while the small fry ate her lunch ;)
Thanks Lynne/Tim? Meant it was only a short one compared to some of the distances some travel ;). Would of liked to have plodded longer with the sun being out but had to get back. Legs felt shocking for the first 5 mins on the turbo but then felt much better & still do. Might do it more often while it's set up
6 miles on local paths. Saw a kingfisher!
Just back in from an 8 miler - home to Hardberry Trig, Red Grooves and back again. Thick low cloud and a strong gale - visibility with the head torch down to 3 feet most of the way. Reet refreshing tho. :) Saw...nuffin!
Coledale Horseshoe Recce with Fondly-Rubyourbum. Looking forward to the champs race - once Grisedale Pike is over!
Couple of hours at the climbing wall followed by 6 miles over Scout scar. Good training as legs tired from climbing!
6 wet miles to work, 6 wet, windy miles home. Where's this bloody heatwave they promised!
Very wet underfoot and windy overhead today for trot up Scandale and over Red Screes. No heatwave here either, Steve, but it wasn't actually raining.
half a skyline starting from the East at Yorkshire bridge AC/W to RR and Edale then up to Hollins cross and home.
Edale Cross still hasn't been replaced after it's theft?
Phew!! 11 miles flatish, on the roads, from home, Solway coast...east of Carlisle. First time out for a fortnight!!
4.5 miles round part of the Hathersage Hilly tri route. Bloody steep hill part way & still very slippey mud in the wood, so hard going. All good stuff though
My sister is currently doing a sandwich year working for the Nat Trust in Edale/Hayfield and was part of the 'recovery team' She says the reason it isn't back up yet is that they're 'waiting for the right glue'. Apparently they keep getting calls saying it's been pinched again, when it hasn't actually been re-attached.
2 miles in the pool this morning. Ready for a very steady 20 mile plod tomorrow.....................forecast's good !
new Parkrun PB of 16:53, 25secs off previous. Pleased with that as was gunning for sub-17.
Followed by some sprintO training around Teesside Uni.
NightO tonight.
A trot round the Calder Valley Round. Nice. 16 miles. 4000ft ups and downs in 2:56:45.
A Cold and windy run over Threshfield moor to Winterburn Reservoir then upto Weets Top, along to Lee Gate down to Bordley up over Higher Heights to Skirethorns returning home via Threshfield.:)
12 ish miles reccie of first bit of Calderdale Hike from Sowerby to Cross Stones, windy and boggy, but in good company with Mrs.C and Lily. Lift back with Mr.C and bacon and egg butties and tea on the way:thumbup:
