16.5 miles around Ilkley & Baildon Moor after watching my son race in the under 12 Ilkley Fell race. Felt a bit leggy, which doesn't bode well for the Wuthering Hike..............
Little trip down to the lakes, rounded of the week at 48miles and 13238ft ascent.
Managed to buy the worst fish and chips I've had for a long time. Most disappointing.
27 miles - Mag7 from Heptonstall with 25 brave forumites - not a path in sight - 6hrs50min of bog trotting
Starbotton-Arncliffe-Kettlewell-back to Starbotton via Moor End. 7ml / 2500ft-ish in proper God's country
12 miles around Almscliffe crag area, too much road, not enough fell:angry:
Saturday - South Shropshire Circular LDWA - 25 miles and 3,500' around the Clee Hills - lovely route, ran a fairly strong effort 7th in 4:32: see http://midlands-fell.blogspot.com/20...-25022012.html
Sunday - Frustrating day on my CX bike, trying out bridleways around my new gaff. Most of them are too narrow and/or overgrown to cycle. Ended up doing about 20 miles with a few short steep hill efforts.
Jim
4.5 miles with the dogs. Steady plod, as been off colour all weekend. Feel better for it though
Yesterday's training actually - 16 miles / 5100 ft over Helvellyn and the Dodds. Felt great even though I was in cloud, wind and drizzle all day! Took it steady in just under 4 hours.
First run back in the UK since Jan, deffo missed the grass/bogs/mud!! Got bored of sand/sun/rocks!
Bring on some more tomorrow :)
Gym and cycle today. Up whernie and inglebugger weds with 20lbs sac.
Trotted round full tour route on Pendle this morning, clag fully down on top, managed to spot 3 runners near the scout cairn on my way round.
Longest run I've ever done today - 3 hours 40 mins. Ambleside to Kentmere via Troutbeck & Garburn Pass and back via High Borrans. Might be a little stiff later, but there's hope that I CAN get round the Three Peaks in 2 months time.
Looked at the high fells this morning and just saw grey clag so opted for 8 miler with the mutt over Scout Scar.
6.2 miles up and around the Wessenden valley in 54mins. 840ft of ups and downs.
Back pack run in a couple hours up whernie and ingle. Followed by coffee in station inn!
Well day started off bad as I woke feeling queezy & decided to run the 10 mi loop round the dams with the young dog, then the old one gave me her puppy eyes, so couldn't leave her behind, so 5 mi loop it was. Good job, as only got part way & my calf was really uncomfy, so turned back. Did around 3.5....slowly. Felt pissed off, so went out on the bike instead but didn't have long. Got 12.38 mi in with one hill. Off swimming tonight, so will of done my own back to front triathlon
Quick 5 miler on the local hill. Funny really, since moving here I've lamented over the lack of height gain on these hills. Now that I'm due to leave them behind for pastures new I'm lamenting leaving them behind. Never bloody happy with what I've got, grass is always greener somewhere else.
Few miles cycle and gym today
A quick 155 mile blast with 5 miles of climb
(for February as a whole) :)
Actually had a ride in sunshine today, bliss!
Well I've finally done it. I broke the 30 mile barrier today. Did a long solo run from Masham to Lofthouse via Hackfall and back via Ramsgill and the moor again. Not too bad on the ascent, 3129'. It hurt a lot in the last ten miles but if I'm going to do the Fellsman, it will hurt a lot more!
Steady jog round the full 3 Peaks route. Started at a nice pace but started to cramp up at top of Whernside. Bit of a struggle after that.
Plenty of walkers out and had a chat with a couple of runners at Ribblehead. Anyone off the forum perhaps ?
Was aiming for under 5 hours but the cramp and the mud slowed me down and ended up around 5:15
Really enjoyable run/recce of the blubberhouses 25 route, started cold and misty, finished in glorious sunshine with a nice steady climb up Beamsley Beacon halfway round. Lost a mile somewhere as my Garmin says 24 miles. Really glad to have some miles under the belt again.
I'll forward to you now mate
There's been a lot of impressively long runs today by forumites.
I decided not to go to the Black Combe race today, then regretted it a little. So I've had a late afternoon training run to Loughrigg and was very pleased to get within 30 secs of my race time. Just a bit more speed training and I might yet break my 40 mins target.
A nice 14.2 from Bin Green CP to Chew, Black Chew Head and Black Hill. 2360 ft of ups and downs in 2hrs 43mins. A bit claggy, but nice.
Really should have done Black combe today and kind of wish I had but family stuff took over. I raced the last two weekends on the trot so its not too bad. Made do with 12 miles and 1400 ft. 1 hr 40. Ideally need to be getting more gradient than that but was a good run nonetheless.
Slightly odd route yesterday from Honister over to Styhead, then the Corridor Route to Scafell Pike and Lords Rake/West Wall Traverse to Scafell. We dropped in to Wasdale and with time and light against us went the direct route up Kirk Fell (what a slog!) and took Moses Trod back to Honister. Weather varied from absolutely chucking it on the way over to Styead to super thick clag on the Scafells to sunshine in Wasdale to hail and a gale on Kirk Fell.
A cold and wintry run over Capplestone Gate & Grassington Moor first thing this morning, great fun in the snow stroll on summer
nice 10km run (on the road - recovery session supposedly!) - new PB for me in 58:04.
Only had time for 10 boggy miles with dog today, snow and hailstones at one point.
Had written today off running wise due to looking after poorly rug rats but was well chuffed when my better half got home early and I got a quick 6 miles in the late afternon sunshine. Even better as my ridiculously unpredicatble garmin watch decided to work for once!
Circuits at gym, effin knackered and seeing stars!!
