Good 5 miler last night?
Yes, but Jane told us to BOGOF and stop talking. We were putting her off.
Bought two nice cakes for 2night's race from the Market.
Home baked, but I'll pretend they are made by moi!
yes, i was there. it was a feeding frenzy for the students on all those lovely cakes.
what a waste :-)
I did this race in its first year and when i say i did it that's not quite true really. I went over on my ankle again after about 3/4's of a mile, and the kind lads from woodhead mountain rescue offered to give me a lift back down to car park. the buggers only went and logged it as a rescue ffs! which is a bit emabarrasing really, being evacuated by the mountain rescue on 4k fell race.
not one of my proudest moments.
but its a great little race if you love cow shit, cow fields and students running off with prizes. i did actually enjoy it though...
Students are poor? Don't worry, they'll grow into rich and lazy teechers, like wot I ham! What time am I up?
Someone shouted," Nice to see you working!" as I SPRINTED to the stile. Not sure what that meant. I had helped out at two races this week. So, maybe ....
Ah well, holidays are coming soon..... Time for more training.
:D
Just checking the results for last week's trunce. Did Vicky Penrose win overall and also beat the previous record, or is it a typo?
Cheers Plumbum, I was seriously impressed with her time! But equally it made me feel very slow

Aint it an arse. You run faster, get a personal best(ok,its only my second Trunce!)and end up finishing lower down the order than last time:( :( .Top twenty next time (crosses fingers and toes):o
hi, I'm not certain but I think Sally Ward in 21st is also a gliche...is there a way to check? thanks.
affects points you see!
Is any lady runner in front of a man now termed a "GLICHE"?
Bit sexist!:D
i'm going to go for a top 200 finish next time
:-)
ahh great thanks...sorry vet men :p
Trunce 3 on the horizon. :)
Intentions this race is to set the juniors off 2.5 minutes after seniors and turn them right, up the lane, before the decent to the kissing gate.
This means the juniors will be doing their loop the opposite way round and, hopefully, relieve a little tension at the queue, 30 less runners and no fast juniors frustrated and trying to jump queue.
If the timing is correct, the fast juniors will be climbing from the first stepping stones after the last senior has crossed / is crossing the river.
Kissing Gate set up and ready PlumBum. OK? You know, what we talked about!
Blisteringly fast tonight. went far too fast and knocked about 1.20 off this years PB. I'm going to have to run fast all year now to pick up more points.
It looked like another record field.
If any one has picked up a stripey pink hooded fleece my daughter would be pleased to get it back.
Ta
Ian
Good running Ian,there certainly were alot there tonight! made the start rather interesting,oh,and liked the entertainment at the stile, but im sure i heard them playing we wish u a merry christmas!!!!
Great run tonight. Just sneaked a PB so first points on the board. The flutes at the style were a lovely touch! Thanks PlumBum and all yet again. See you again in 3 weeks.
are small people allowed to go under the gap at the stile? because it was certainly big enough to get through and there was noone to stop like last time. wasnt sure tonight, was tempted but just wondered what people think - if your small enough can you!?
another excellent race last night, and how surreal were the fluteists? it could only happen at a fell race.
great stuff, well done Mr Plumbum
Did anyone get wet feet or make good use of the stepping stones this time?
No you CAN'T go under the gate!
What's the rush?
Just enjoy.
I get fed up when slowing down to join the queue, some idiot thinks I don't want my place and runs past 4 or 5 people.
If you want to get to the front, RUN FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What were your thoughts on the new format, juniors doing clockwise route to avoid a bit of congestion / frustration at the gate?
Bit of a rant now , would the inconsiderate runners who insist on not registering and not having a number STOP coming through the finish funnel, you cannot imagine the hassle it causes with the results.
We can cope if anyone turns up late and runs with their number, that just shows extra runners than expected.
Turning up and running without a number throws everything into confusion:eek: , DO NOT DO IT (Adam Oldham whoever you are).
I saw a Pennine runner at the Trunce, He's along way from home?
Any news on the results yet Andy?
My mate said," The ones who sneaked under the gate managed PB's, the rest didn't!":D
string some fishing line across the gap, (like what steve mcqueen did in the great escape) that should put an end to it once the first one has been decapitated
How about installing a guillotine?:D :D
