Anybody know much about these other than being a set of races held around Kendal during the Winter - I'd kinda thought they'd be cross countries but understand them to be more akin to mini fell races.
Any clues??

The league is organised by Helm Hill Runners and usually runs from early January until mid-April. I don't think the 2008 races are on the site yet but this was the 2007 list. The races are all short and some are very much straight up and down. I think I'm correct in saying that the league was originally devised to help the "professional" BOFRA runners retain a competitive edge during the winter when there are no BOFRA races.

Yes, Harry's organising the Winter League again this year. I'll post the list on the Helm Hill website as soon as I get it from Harry. I expect the first one will be Scout Scar as Stick says.

Hi I'm a new kid on the block, I'm aged 10 and run for Blackpool Wyre & fylde.
I've not been running long but really enjoy it and I'd like to get in to Fell Running( my mum said it's good for builing up stamina) although she still struggles and she's been doing it for years :confused:
My mum and I have found this Kendal Winter League but would like further information regarding distance and height for both juniors and seniors for all of the races but especially for the one at Scout Scar on Sunday 6th.
Can anyone help please??

Harry H Howgill is a Helm Hiller and has a big part to play in this series. He's on the forum very frequently and can let you know the junior heights / distances.. Try private messaging him to get his attention!

..Oh...and Scout scar's about 4 miles for seniors and not too much climbing, probably 600ft'ish (...memory fades of course :o ) Most of the races are between 3 - 5 miles - though do have some serious amounts of ascent in. Scouts scar, Helm Hill and Birkrigg are the least hilly (emphasis on word least though!)
And I guess Scout scar's about 1 mile for under 12's (...but not sure about the U12 distance to be honest; I can't see that it'd be more than this)
Scout Scar race tomorrow, !st in the series its quite fast being runnable for all the route. Good race for blowing the cobwebs away!!
Kids races start at 12.00, seniors follow after.
Brilliant series with some very testing races similar to BOFRA.
Beware the race tomorrow... the Westmorland Gazette said something about a different course with more challenging climbs
What time will the senior race start?
About 12.45 - 1 start for seniors; once the kids races are finished, but please be registered by 12 if you possibly can as it really helps us out.Quote:

We're having a different organiser of each race this year for which I'm most grateful, so I've told them not to rush with the results on the Sunday night after the race. There's enough to do on the day without results too. I thank you all for your patience.

Watto, You should get a chance to see how chris is going next sunday at Firbank. He kept your daftness up by running in just his vest and it was bloody cold. Think he ran quite well but didnt beat Borat jnr.
