what...chris k might be coming? Oh god, I had better read his article....
I've never done this and therefore don't know the route. Could someone be so kind as to post the checkpoints
Cheers

Is 10.00 still the meeting time, also, what time do you think for the recce, is three hours about right. (Need to try and balance child care).
Thanks
We're up on Sunday And Steve is doing a recce check of the course, you're welcome to join him....
Wynn:)
Me and Adrian (hopey) are camping on the saturday night, so not sure what time we'll be packed up and ready to run, but might see some of you one the way round :D
but then again I might be reccing it tomorrow now!!
Flusco Quarry is our local tip:rolleyes: other than that just don't presume the guy in front has the best line, unless he's wearing top hat and tails and is called Steve! Oh and we don't have shake holes on this route but there are one or two bogs, bields and folds instead.
see you guys tomorrow ..babysitters at the ready
hurray
10:30ish from the church....... he's not flying - recovering from an ankle reconstruction - so be gentle with him!!!!:D or you may end up carrying him and cos hes not done much he wieghs a tonn or 2:)
no excuses now - we're travelling up fron leicestershire:cool:
Great day out today! Thanks to Emmilou, Moo, Huwski, Dominion, Daleside, Wobblehead and Chris K for the wonderful company in glorious surroundings. Special thanks to Emmilou for driving and Chris for his expert guidance. With all his tips I think we have reduced the race to 9 miles and 2000 feet!:) Only joking Wynn. Looking forward to the race now, provided the sun stays out.;)
Ditto the above - Fantastic day out, Chris you're a STAR:D (Dudley too!)
Really enjoyed it and have since discovered I have tan lines:eek:
Thanks for the copious amounts of mini mars bars Huw!
Hope eveyone got home ok and my driving hasn't scarred everyone for life:rolleyes:
See you race day if not before:D
If you dont like the descent of dalehead, try this:
Use the path headed towards honister
After about 500m swing left and
take a sweeping simicircle arc to the left down grass
which is only steep for about 200ft descent, and good ground all the way.
after about another 400m you hit a path which goes up from the tarn
and heads towards honister - follow this to the right of the tarn and
onto the ascent towards maiden moor
And you can run this as fast as your legs will go.
It is used on the borrowdale race.
I have no doubt that a good rough descender would beat this line by going
straight down.
But I have equally little doubt that for most of the rest it is quicker.
When I do this it takes me about 7 mins to get to the tarn, and I
am an old fatty who cant be bothered to try to run quick any more.
Not many beat that time gong down the rough route.
Food for thought Swoopy?
PS - If anyone couldnt make this reccie this w/e
Me and a clubmate are going round it next fri.
really great day... thanks everyone. Chris, you are booked for our next session in the Lakes for sure. So much to learn from your experiences. Thanks emma for a luxurious journey!
Off to drink my fizzy wine now :@)

Fantastic day out in great company! Much as it semed like a really stupid idea at midnight, I'm glad I got my arse out of bed at 6am to go up.
Cheers guys,
Dom
ps,
No, this in no way constitutes a commitment to run in the race!
Oh blimey - this is a bit tempting:( Not sure my permit will cover another full day out whilst OH has all 3 mini ems:confused:
Swoop - I have discovered that my fancy gadget piece of kit thingy (garmin) has cleverly remembered the route(s) from yesterday, I have now saved it as a course and can follow the little lines and flashy things!!:D If we manage to get to the various lines off that Chris showed us at the same time we 'should' be okay;)
