Re: Tour de Helvellyn
seems a few of us had the dip on the track above thirlmere, i also hit a low until the climb up dunmail. i wasnt critising the kit check stuart we all know what we need to carry and when you you asked me about jam sarnies i had a full pack in my arms and winter clothing on, and agree the low key and self reliance atmosphere of event is what some of us look for in an event and i for one enjoyed the day and will be back next year, well done to all involved

Re: Tour de Helvellyn
When I reccied what I thought was the route I found the track through the forest above Thirlmere hard as it didn't have the interest of the other sections. When I arrived at Askham village hall I was annoyed to discover there was a diversion onto a permissive path instead of part of the track I had taken. But when I reached the permissive path, even though it was harder going than the track would have been, I found it a godsend as it provided interest and that gave motivation.

Re: Tour de Helvellyn
Thanks to everyone for the kind comments and excellent feedback. As Stu says, please do give us an comments direct if you wish.
Don't fear the sweeper,
I'm glad you enjoyed the 'diversion', and sorry you were annoyed ...
... incidentally, it wasn't a diversion just a polite instruction and reminder to stick to the permissive right of way, by the organiser!

Re: Tour de Helvellyn
it wasnt taken as a critisim about the kit check. i think it was given and taken in good spirit about checking your butties. some kit checks go to the nth degree and some are just after stealing your haribo. in the same way folk pack their kit, some skimp some dont.
see you next year
cheers

The NAV4 Dawn to Dusk Ultra, and The Summer Tour will be on 23rd June. Full details on www.nav4.co.uk in due course. Entries open 1st Feb.
