Re: High Peak Marathon Marchis
I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise to IanDarkpeak; during our trog from outer edge to Bleaklow I may have referred to this part of the route as a 'shit hole' :D.
It sure is bleak and boggy up there (to put in mildly) but like any moor you care to mention alot of your perceptions of a place come from the outright toughness and outlandishness of the terrain, especially when your unfamiliar with it. I'd only been there once before, on a recce in grim weather, so I didn't have much to go on - and yes it did seem at the time an incredibly boggy, featureless wasteland of a shit hole first time round.
Now though it doesn't; its grown on me and I feel I know it better and more intimately. Not quite an ugly duckling turning into a swan yet but its getting there :D

I should think so too:) You should be up there on a summer evening as the sun goes down, I really need Wheeze to put the words together but it is beautiful. it is a desolate place though but come for the long run later in the summer and you'll see if different side to it.
Re beer, If anyone wants any I'll try and bring some to the Hobble.

Given that I'm in the unexpected position of still being able to walk, I'm rather tempted to give that one a go...

Sorry, but I just couldn’t resist this!
Hi there,
I got your names/email addresses from the subs list from the HPM organisers. Are you still looking fro a team to join? We (Down & Crawling) need one more due to a late drop out…
D&C is due to start at 11pm.
We won’t break any records on this but hopefully won’t be too shabby – maybe get round in 10-11 hours (as a complete guess – probably an underestimate!). If you want to join, please contact me (on mobile number below or email or both) then please do so as soon as possible as the first person to contact me gets the place (although please take note of our intended finish time and not call if you are a 17-hour type, thanks).
Team is: myself, Bbbb and Ccc. Ccc is the fittest – does Ironman events, so he’ll have to lump it going round with slower people (maybe he can carry all the bags?). He’s new to the team as well as 2 of our team have dropped out so far. Bbbb should be in reasonable shape – does long distance bike rides etc. I am getting fit for a road marathon (Windermere) in May and have done this sort of thing (Bullock Smithy) before.
Call asap if interested and able to fit with team objectives and have all the gear etc. Cost-wise, its ¼ of the team entry, plus there is a t-shirt been ordered (medium or large). Bbbb and Ccc are taking the train to the event. I am driving from Kendal (so my car is available to leave stuff in during the event).
Cheers,
