Thanks Dave :D
Good choice Rodders :)
Last nights bikeride: just over an hour of easy spinning... Recovery ride with my new coach. It did do the job, legs feeling a lot better... Thing is though, he wants me to do an interval session on the turbo tonight:rolleyes: I HATE the turbo, however, I also want to get faster at time trialling... So I better do it I suppose
Nice bike Rodders, almost as nice as mine.:D
Was just about to go out for a ride on my bike, ive been dreaming up the route all day and when im about to don the lycra it starts raining.
Tough luck Al :( It is glorious here, has been all day. Bright sunshine and very hot, the first true summer's day I reckon...
Just decided I will turbo in my garden in my tri suit, so I can go and swim in the river immediately after the session
10 miles tonight... Would have been more but it went dark a bit quick!
Yeah, it went dark a bit quick here too, which fortunately does not matter when you are on the turbo... :D
71 miles at 19.2 average today followed by a short run up the Coppice on my return (3rd short run this week so may be able to start posting in the 'proper' training thread soon!!!).
Had planned to do a solo 150 today but fancied some company and went with the club training ride with 19 others. Good size group at briskish pace to Garstang where the majority headed straight to Scorton whilst 8 of us did through and off on a 12 mile loop before the cafe stop. Just 2 of us fancied coming back through the Trough of Bowland and this was followed with an al fresco latte in Whalley under a very warm sun. Good day out + I got myself a Stihl chainsaw - 2 stroke, smells ace!!
That's zipping along Ady,19.2mph albeit in a large group is good going.Must have been fairly flat.
Do you do any races ?
Fancy a few next year, circuts rather than TT's mind.
At the start of September im Cycling the Great glen way over 3 days with a mate so lateron tonight at about 9ishwe are doing about 30 miles
Steady one today...,
95 miles ish, Beddgelert > Rhyd > Mignient > Bala (via Arenig race road) > Bron Aber > Back roads to Dolgellau > Barmouth > Harlech > Penrhy > Beddglert
Full day out, 2000m of ascent with a few big climbs. Longest ride, probably ever, felt OK late on.
Just minor bumps out to Scorton but we had a good sized bump to get over on the route home.
Done a couple of road races this year, 2 up 10 next week followed by a 12 hour TT on Sept 6th - and the 3pcx of course. Used to enjoy crits best, Accy town centre used to hold one on May bank holiday, was a cracking course but sadly it is no more. Preston arena is a nippy little circuit - wacky races :)
We were out for 7:30 hrs, but had a good 1 hr lunch break and were waiting for another mate in places. First 60 was very hilly, last 30 or so back was a bit of a spin, just into a wind.
Great Glen would make a nice ride, bit of a boring walk. I was coming through the canal on a research vessel so ran 40+ miles of it, Inverness > Fort Augustus. Running or cycling would make the long samey sections go faster. A few munro's to do near the Loch Lochy end.
Sounds good.I've done a few west mids cross races in the past, and have entered a few duathlons, off road and one at Oulton park in October.Looking forward to that, surface should be great.Quote:

Looking forward to trying a few races on the road next year....i've also got my eye on this beauty....http://www.alpetriathlon.com/
Long course I hope Rodders.
Naturally ;)Quote:

A half marathon at 6000' will be fun.I hope the tour goes there next year.
The race will be a week after,be good to see all the writing on the roads around all the hairpins.
You need to be in the BCF and then you join the league at the Arena and then you can just turn up and pay. Not quite as simple as turn up and ride. Best to have experience of riding in groups before you hit this track as it is very tight and there are regular crashes, hence Wacky Races.
I'm back!
The Turks had to put up with me for 2 weeks and now you lot have:rolleyes:
Just had the bike out for a steady 14 mile. Up hill into the wind was great, Down hill with a tail wind was boringly fast:confused:
I need to get fit and with a low GI plan and a lot of bike work (No ale for a month) I should be back on a reasonable track.
Went running instead. 1 hour steady trail work. Felt very good considering time off for injury and lurgy! Gotta get in shape for the OMM!
And today, I saw some cyclists as I was driving to Abergavenny for some serious hill work. Thought one might have been Hanneke...wearing orange cycling jersey.
Anyway, did a couple of ascents of Sugar Loaf and it felt great. Calf injuries seem well healed and lurgy chest stayed away. Bring on Brecon Beacons!!
20 hard miles on geared crosser with mate over and around Stoodley Pike, bloody windy, bike acts like a sail on your shoulder, nearly got blown into Lancashire:eek:
Mate is now worried about 3ppp's cyclocross, no need to be, he did alreet today, especially since he bought the first round in the pub after:cool:
This will cheer you up Brett:

Ooerrrr, I got an error - is that what you mean :D
This is from Saturday (but I didn't have computer access)
20 miles round the Forest of Dean with Mrs Noel and the kids on tag-alongs. Hired from PedalBikeAway. Probably not ideal training for my 90-mile target ride in 3 weeks, but better than other kid-friendly holiday activities.
Just 18 mile today with eldest son and his mate.
Good company but they also learn't how useless some car drivers can be.
26.5 today tried to up the pace. (almost killed me) HR max 99%
Did two things I have never done since I was a kid.
Rode up a hill with my helmet OFF:o
Got off and pushed the last 100yrd of a hill:o
Holiday has dented my fitness, more work needed.:)
A play out on the CX this aft with the new gear ratios and then a 2 up 10TT tonight - ouch ouch ouch ouch! Managed 22:49 but was looking for somthing nearer 22:00  Just on road bike with clips ons so that probably cost 30 seconds or more - the other lost time was probably due to my lack of race fitness and excess fat! Roll on the 12 hour............
40 miles in a day.
Well, erm... not really. 20 miles cycling home last night and then 20 miles cycling in this morning.
Another outing on the CX bike with some hill climbing with bike shouldered. Damn warm up on the tops, followed the freshly flagged Golf Balls FR route for a while which is on tonight - I'm at work otherwise I would have been out shouting encouraging words............
