Does anyone else think it's weird how we willingly let all these companies store tons of data about us? People just blindly trust Facebook, Google and Twitter, but what if they wanted to use that information for ill?
I saw my mates profile, which is based on the new timeline. It creeped me out to be honest. When I got engaged I updated my profile and Facebook automatically posted pictures of my lady and I, this creeped me out too. I'm seriously thinking about deleting it.
What information? You give away as much or as little as you choose.
Yeah there is just so much rubbish spouted about facebook. Its not just about keeping in touch with friends either - I get updates from Salomon running, the guardian, yorkshire dales national park, langdale and ambleside mountain rescue, NFR and friends, jellylegs running, rugby league 'the best sport in the world', the lake district cumbria, welcome to yorkshire, striding edge - a photo diary of lake district fell walks and not forgetting Hester Cox - printmaker :). All self inflicted but its all things that I am interested in and, should it ever become uninteresting, I can just dump it. Facebook is also very visual with lots of pictures that are easy to see and post and its just a very friendly place to dip in and out of... which isn't always the case on this here forum ;)
Deleted mine about 6 weeks ago now. Not missed it at all, which I was quite surprised about!
Being away from it but still being in an environment where people use it, I've been amazed about how much time people spend on Facebook.
Glad I've left now, and returned to alternative communication methods :)
I'll agree with this, theres bugger all on mine worth owt to anyone. Certainly no more info than is stored in cookies and wotnot from web browsing!
If someone can find a commercial use for most of the abuse I dish out to friends on that there facebook good on them. But I've yet to see an ad pop up for www.rent-boy.com
