Well I'm entered, and for the very reasonable price of £20.
Perhaps we can get a list going of who is in.

I'm in! Really looking forward to this one.
I'm in :)
I'm in... can't wait, it should be awesome.
It so depends on the weather doesn't it? I didn't do it last year, but they had epic winter conditions. I'm hoping for 4 inches of new overnight snow on half-frozen ground...
I'm in. Snow would be great! :-)

I sent my entry off on Saturday so I should be in. How many are staying afterwards for a knees up in the Queen's Head?
We're staying just up the road in Bampton.
Doesn't "Knees up" imply retaining the ability to move your legs? Seems a bit unlikely :)
I was think more in terms of sitting down with my legs on a plush pouffe. :p
Presuming I make it to the Queen's Head, I'm sure I'll be ready for a beer!
Splatcher, I never knew you cared. I'll make do with a bar stool instead. Just call off the lawsuit, OK? ;)
Seriously though, how can you consider a long drive home in the dark in the middle of winter straight after a tough day out in the hills from dark until dark? I don't think I could do it.
Hank, I'll see you there. You'll probably be there before me, so save me a bar stool if you would. Ta. ;)
Looking forward to a trot out at this event :-)
I agree about the driving, Britnick, and I live in the Lakes. Last year I rose at an ungodly hour, tipped some porridge down my neck, and then drove tensely through the snow and dark (wife wouldn't be impressed if I wrote a 2nd car off on ice). From Coniston to Ambleside, past Thirlmere and St Johns in the Vale, over the motorway... But it was steadily getting worse and I couldn't afford to get stuck because of an urgent project I was working on, so after a loss of traction a few miles away from Askham I managed to turn round and drive back home. Ended up absolutely knackered and I'd not done the run!
This year I'll stay nearby.
Splatcher, Brit Nick-- how may hours if I do it??? I need to be back for a night O just south of Preston that evening? Really torn about which to do.
Hi Karen. Nick did it last year, but conditions were snowy. It could be very different this year. I'd have thought you'd get round in well under 9 hours, assuming no snow or ice. I haven't measured it myself, but the given distance of 38 miles & climb of 2200m looks OK for that sort of time, & it's all on tracks & good paths. I'm expecting to get just under 9 hours, but I'm not fit at the moment.
I can't find the results for last year so have no idea what sort of times people were taking though I'm sure the snow and ice slowed most folk down.
Does anyone know where last year's results can be found?
Karen, Richard, it took me 11:05 to do it last year, with perfect navigation. I would hope to be quicker than that this year. It's the only time I've finished (equal) last in an event before the DNFs kicked in. Karen, you should be able to do sub 9 hours, but the weather really is the luck of the draw.
I have last year's results in pdf format but there is no way to communicate them on a forum. Any suggestions anybody? All I can think of is if you PM me your email address and I email them to you.
Nick
I've PM'd you
Richard
evening all ,are there any entries left does anyone know ive been a bit slow with this one , and is there any cheap local b+b's local any can recomend ?
Confirmed yesterday, i'm in. Which coincides with my first ever proper knee injury
Felt a niggle last week but was ok so did 16 mile in lakes on Sat and been in pain ever since!!!!
old un, I suggest you email Joe about entries. I don't know about local cheap B&Bs. Try a Google search perhaps? I'll be in the Queen's Head.
Bad news Nee Bother (perhaps you should add a 'K' to your name; sorry :o). Try walking instead of running until it improves. Hopefully it will have recovered somewhat by TdH. All the best.
cheers nick was going to drop him an email tonight. filled entry in anyway and pop it in post tommorow and hopefully see you all there. hope the knee gets better for the tour nee bother.

Hello Chaps,
Just a quick update from the TdeH organiser. Entries have been coming in steadily and so it looks like it will fill up in the next week or two. So, if you want to enter please do so now.
Anyone who has sent an entry should have received a reply, with confirmation of entry by now, so if you think you have missed out please drop me an email.
Re. accommodation. Apparently, The Queens at Askham is www.queenheadaskham.com and not .co.uk as per original info. Also, www.fellfoot.com is the recommended hostel in Penrith, but I'm not sure how many places there may be.
Lastly, I hope to meet many of you enjoying a beer, or fruitbased drink, in The Queens after a great day out, and putting some names to faces and forumites.
See you at Askham.
Joe
a beer and a meet up sounds good joe hope its still open by the time we get in :-s, me and steve got a room at the clifton hotel just south of penrith for £15 a night each, described as basic but clean. if anyones after a cheap room maybe worth a look although i havent stayed there so ???
Hello,
Just another update:
Apparently, Fellfoot hostel in Penrith is closed for December, so old un's recommendation of The Clifton Hotel must be the cheapest, most local accommodation available? Other accommodation provider's are available . ..
I had a training run round the loop part of the route the other day, with the Dunmail to Patterdale section in the dark. It was also very misty, and the section from the top of Raise Beck to Grizedale Tarn made me realize I need to recalibrate my pacing. But earlier, when I was going up to the Sticks Pass, I realized that contestants might wish to view the conditions there just before the race. The Lake District Ski Club has a webcam at their 'ski resort' on Raise. It's not running at the moment but will be accessible via their website: http://www.ldscsnowski.co.uk.
Don't Fear the Sweeper - thanks for your post. Will check out the webcam nearer the time.
What was it about the section from Raise Beck to the Tarn that made you think you needed to re-evaluate your pace?
Also, how long did you take to do the section and which bits were runnable?
Thanks in advance for the info
Cheers
