Recording on radio was from Abbey Road, not Albert Hall, as I mis-heard. Very lush, mature pop music
And just when you thought it could get no better..

"Infinity on high" by Fallout boy for me this past 2 days
I'd never heard of Fall out boy and am generally wary of US punk pop bands but apparently this lot have a song referencing the late great Donny Hathaway so cannot be all bad
Keighley's finest !

You must remember these !
Not quite as good, but not to be sniffed at either. A lot of that music, as with any 'scene' is quite derivative and eventually becomes very boring. But FOB approach it all with a bit of wit and don't take themselves too seriously.
Any genuine 'emos' will probably say they're too commercial, and don't properly represent. Meh.
A few to view (most of which you've probably heard):

Any band that mixes a ukelele with a double drummer backing has to be interesting!
They were good and cooked up a regular storm live. Catch 'em while they're cheap. The Acorn and other bands like them are signed to Bella Union, a label started by Raymonde and Guthrie which tells you all you need to know about the quality of the musicians they sign.
First tune on my MP3 in the new car:
