probably one of the best available at the moment - how lucky are we t'hat it's brewed down the road?

I can't believe it won CBOB twice! not really good enough to win once. (although it's not on this list)
Had a few Mary Janes over Christmas and new year... an undiscovered gem for me. Excellent stuff.
Currently brewing my own beer at home. Fermentation is complete and I transferred it to the barrel (i.e. big plastic tub) on Tuesday night. Should be ready in a couple of weeks.
I think it'll be ironing all morning, then a walk in the snow with the dog to the pub at lunchtime for a couple of pints of Unicorn. It's a tough life as a househusband. I can't run it as I can hardly stand up after the Hebden on Saturday. Unicorn's drinkable, but not top of my list. The pub's good though, and very dog-friendly - the Leigh Arms on the A49 near Acton Bridge if anyone wants to join me!
An imromptu & snow induced day off today. So after making snowmen with the children & a cracking run on the moors, I decided to take the children out for lunch in The Queens Head. Had a lovely pint of Wall's Brewery Gun Dog, followed by a belting Moorhouses Blond Witch. Came home & made another snowman, then needed an afternoon nap. What a great day !
couple of beers from the colchester brewery, metropolis- outstanding, light hoppy 3.9% session ale :) 88 out of 100
and colchester - no1, a brown 4.1% ale but really flavoursome 80 out of 100
A pint of Santas Dark Side followed by an excellent Black Band Porter in a snowy Ilkley tonight.
I was in York yesterday, what a fine place for ale!! The york tap by the station is great, sampled a couple of beers from Rapture brewery which Id never heard of, they were both beautiful and in great condition :) Great pint of old peculiar too in some other boozer, I do love the Old Peculiar, struggle to get it up our way these days
Went on the Theakston's Brewery tour recently, which really rekindled my admiration for Old Peculier.
From the company's website:
"The name pays tribute to the unique ecclesiastical status of Masham as a ‘Court of the Peculier’ and is also reference to the strong characteristic of the beer! For many years it was affectionately referred to as Yorkshire’s ‘Lunatic’s Broth’.
Old Peculier is a beautiful, yet very simple beer, brewed using a very generous blend of finest pale, crystal and roasted barley with two bitter hops combined with the majestic and noble ‘Fuggle’ hop to produce a beer of awesome full-bodied flavour with subtle cherry and rich fruit overtones. It tastes superb when accompanied by rich stews, strong cheeses and sweet puddings."

Not sure if we have a 'today's whisky thread' so I'll sneak this in here - 12 year old Caul Ila from Islay, quite possibly the most sublime malt I have had the pleasure of tasting. Only had a wee drop as I didn't want it to interfere with a Calafornian Zinfandel I had on the go but I am certainly looking forward to my next tasting - unlike the other big names from Islay this is much more subtle & complex with peat more of a background taste than to the fore, well worth a try if you are in the mood for a nice malt.
Plenty of rescue ale was purchased at Mickledon. Hope you all enjoyed it.
Just in process of sampling a few Ian, funny to hear you telling MR ladies how its full of electrolites etc
Flying dog brewery: Snake dog IPA 7.1%
Odell brewing co: St. Lupulin IPA 6.5%
Ska brewing : Modus hoperandi IPA 6.8%
Sierra Nevada brewing co: Torpedo IPA 7.2%
All from the U.S, all bloody lovely and all bought from Beermoth in MCR.
I wouldn't really class them as sippers, but nor are they sluggers. TBH I don't pay that much attention to abv in relation to how drunk i'll be as different drinks of similar percentage have massively different effects. Say Duvel for instance - 3 off them and I'm in bed, but last nights selction was no problems - toped off with a nice night cap of Elijah Craig 18 year single barrel bourbon for good measure.
Goose Eye Black Moor
A pint of Kirkby Lonsdale Monumental Blonde after work tonight, which was fantastic ! Followed by an Ossett Silver King which was very good.
Been to Brew Dog in Camden
Desperately waiting for Leeds to open
The beers are sublime

A bottle of Rudgate Ruby Mild tonight. Very nice too.
A bottle of Black Cullin from The Isle Of Skye last night. Cracking drop.
looks like everyone has been enjoying themselves since I last popped on here!
i made it to BrewDog in MCR a week or so ago and got rather drunk! many excellent (and slightly expensive) beers were had in a quite, relaxed bar. Also managed to get to the Sheffield Tap, a Marble Earl Grey IPA and Roosters/Outlaw Mad Hatter, both brewed with tea and amazing. particularly the Mad Hatter.
also loads of my homebrew, a few Modus Hoperandi and the odd pint of Mary Jane. The best evening was in my Dads local where they had Thornbridge Kipling on draught.
Just had a couple of cracking pints of Theakston's in Hawes sat in the sun outside the pub!
Lightfoot
Old Peculiar
Top job! :)
Pffffft :sneaky:
A bottle of Oyster Stout tonight, always excellent. Should be posting a few tomorrow night. Meeting up with OS maps at Bar T'at, in Ilkley, to peruse The Dales Way.
Had a few crackers on saturday night:
Pale ale (mosaic) - Kernel Brewery - 5.1% (didn't live up to the hype imo)
Jaipur - Thornbridge Brewery - 5.9%
Big swell IPA - Maui Brewing Co - 6.8%
Brooklyn Lager - Brooklyn Brewery - 5.2%
Raging Bitch - Flying Dog Brewery - 8.3%
East India Pale - Brooklyn Brewery - 6.9%
And finished off with a white russian because the dude abides
What a fantastic range of beers - I'm coming out with you next time
