Moonlight is amazing tonight. Just been to the pub for tea. Looking up at shelf moor I am sure you wouldnt even need a head torch tonight.

Dog walking Monday
Day started off badly - none of my usual running mates were going to the nearby woods. Two lads were going on a road circuit at 0730 but NO WAY was i getting up that early. So i had a bit of a lie in and by 9 oclock began to feel bad about not already being out there running.
Then a brainwave hit. Why not get a lift 20odd miles away from home and run back?
So The wife dropped me off in Penrith which is the next town south of Carlisle. The A6 was the route home, it's not too busy and has a pavement for most of the way back to Carlisle. Initially I had a superb view of Blencathra and the Northern Helvellyn range - beautifully framed against a cloudless bright blue sky. But by the second half of the run it had become misty.
The profile was hilly, rolling not steep and the wind was negligable, all lending to a very enjoyable run. I was hoping to manage 6:30 per mile but was a bit slower in the end although i certainly wasnt pushing hard at any stage. At 22miles this was my longest run since Amsterdam Mar' last October and I think all is on target for a good FLM. Not sure if I will manage 2:35 though. May settle for sub 2:40 and then really go for it at Berlin.
Good effort Bestathlete, first run in 2 weeks since injury, steady run along canal about 4 miles super morning clear sky with a white frost on the ground. Was really tempted to go off road, great to get out again. I love my bike but nothing beats running:)
Did my 13 mile off road route and knocked 10 minutes off the time I took 3 week ago. A combination of drier conditions and I am getting fitter. 1:45 which is 8:08 min/ mile pace which isn't bad for 13 miles 1500' climb and only about a total of 1 mile on tarmac and the rest across fields, stiles and bridlepaths and through woods.
1:45 is a sign I am running reasonably well as my best, in summer, is 1:40.
Just looked at my training diary and I ran today's course exactly 1 year ago 8 seconds quicker.
64 lengths of free-style in the 25 metre diving pool at the Aqua centre this morning. Enjoyed it immensely.:)
Me and JJ did a bit of jogging today
IainR - just had a read of the blog attached to your message. Makes my sunday morning runs seem tame. Similar distances but your certainly have the scenery and the snow looks great. Only get to Snowdon when we are down there on holiday but I would love to be able to run in that area more often. Have to make the best of our Pennines and the York Dales.
The Sarz running blog is a great site. I really enjoyed reading it - keep it up
1 hr 30 today up doctors gate from Old Glossop, over to Higher Shelf and then down over James Thorn and back down mossy lea to Old Glossop.
Brilliant weather, the views from the top were just stunning - the best I have ever seen them.
3 Guys on the top of Higher shelf had set up camp for the night. Stove was going and they offered me a bacon buttie. declined but was tempted though
Will be cold up there tonight in this full moon but they seemed to have enough wine to keep warm.
