Re: Wuthering Hike-Haworth Hob
Yep, cheers Brett. I feel sorry for the marshalls at the later checkpoints - those at the last one will still be there
Met Merrylegs on the way round and after a long, non-competitive tussle ended up finishing together.
Hmm, I've got an evening out as well - just hope that the beer doesn't send me to sleep too soon! :o

Re: Wuthering Hike-Haworth Hob
Thanks to all organisers and marshalls for a top event today, first time i've run that distance and my body reminded me of the fact. Great to meet IanDarkPeak, daz h, socks, and meet up again with Derby Tup, the crumblies, Tussockface, special thanks to Derby Tup's mate who kept talking when nobody else wanted too, cheers, you kept me going, extra special mention to Bob, great to meet you and a pleasure being non- competitive with you, a great day with great people. Nice to meet Brett as well. Curry and beer tonight, then block and tackle suspended over bed to get me up in the morning:D Nearly forgot, nice to meet Hugh Jarse and Steampig too;)

5700ft, no wonder it felt so hard, I hope I never see another cobble
Tough event mainly I think because so much is runnable. I don't know what happened to Marvin but he set a blistering pace with Daz after that last big climb from the final checkpoint, well run both of you It was good to have your company for the last three hours.
I think every one has mentioned me who I saw plus YDT. Merry we'll have to have a longer chat next time. I mentioned Adrian to a few guys and he beat me again! White hair V60!
Thanks to the marshalls again. good effort.

Re: Wuthering Hike-Haworth Hob

my legs ache after that, prob not a good idea running it in my knackered trail shoes that have done abot 1000miles:eek:
a good run with marvin and spent lots of the route with Ian Dark Peak who didnt seem to be singing this time round:).
a little bit more tarmac than my legs have recently been used to of late and thats perhaps why i ache a bit.
well done to the other pennine runners.
loved the bit going up to stoodley pike

I did more. I took an interesting diversion through Todmorden, including a brief visit to the street market. :D
Also took the long way round Penistone Hill.
Still I've now got an excuse for my slow time.

Re: Wuthering Hike-Haworth Hob
Slow down IanDarkPeak, then we'll have a longer chat;)
Love that climb to Stoodley Pike, daz, do it regular with cross bike, no jam doughnuts at last pitstop when i got there, so that's who ate them all, there will be two NotSoMiniMarvins if he keeps scoffing them:D

There weren't any there when I got there either. I only had a few biscuits, so not sure what kept me going over the last few miles, probably just the determination to beat a few of the people in front.... and finish in front of the Singing Fellrunner.
We'll have to speak next time Merry.

Took me 26.5 minutes to eat one hot cross bun after that last checkpoint:eek: That's what kept me going to the finish, determined to scoff the bloody thing, look forward to meeting you, Marvin;)

Re: Wuthering Hike-Haworth Hob
Well that was a grand day out as they say! Lots of friendly faces about. Found it quite tough though - think it's all the hard ground you run over. And why did we have to climb all the way up to Heptonstall only to go all the way back down again?! Think I might wait another 15 years before I do it again! Cracking donuts at Mankin Holes (but no cups of tea!). Cheers Brett & co (have you got to the beer yet?)
-
Re: Wuthering Hike-Haworth Hob
Somebody was hiding the doughnuts from me, did not see a single doughnut all day:mad:
Them climbs were just like being in the Army, 'Right, lads, up to the top of that hill then back down' What for corporal 'Cos i said so, Pondlife':D

Thanks Brett and all your helpers!
10 miles further than my legs had been before and they are certainly not letting me forget it!

Re: Wuthering Hike-Haworth Hob
Great event and my first past marathon distance, thought i would cope well and didnt really!! thanks to the Clayton runner who helped me with my major bout of cramp just after Stoodley pike climb, and apologies again to the fella whose bag i inadvertently poured a bowl of chilli into in my post race stupor!!

It's alright team pie, I don't hold grudges! I have also remembered your BG offer, I'll let you know if I'm short for the attempt.
It wasn't really my sort of course, too many roads/tracks and steady downhill, wanted more hills.
One thing that did get me, much of the time we were pretty well up but the amount of rubbish discarded by those in front. It was a disgrace, can you people not read or have any thought of what you are doing. We are priviliged to be able to run through some beautiful countryside and you wankers seem to think it OK to leave your crap in it. You may be able to run but you have no place in our sport, f**k off!
Rant over, thanks to all those responsible for the day, your hard work is appreciated.

I was running around the 60th position and although I wasn't looking for rubbish I only saw two pieces of rubbish both of which I picked up and dropped off at the next checkpoint. But I'd still agree with you T'owd lad it is unacceptable.
Any news on the results Brett?

My bumbag is the latest developement from OMM and the time lords using Tardis technology:D
I forgot to say thanks for holding those gates for me on the last descent.

Bob Graham offer still stands, my running partner and I are going for an attempt next summer so are in need of as much recce/support runs on the route as possible. Didnt really witness any littering myself but agree no space for people that do in the sport!

Re: Wuthering Hike-Haworth Hob

Think I'm eating normally today. Immediately after a race I can't eat much, but it usually doesn't last long. I get a bit fussier about what I eat after I've done a long hard run. Don't really like cold food - need hot stews. Washed down with loads of tea.

I always eat tons,be it 3 miles or 33!At the risk of appearing xenophobic, were there are any German runners yesterday?Whist queuing (Britishly) at the gate above Bronte Bridge, some chaps dodged the queue and climbed over the(farmer's) fence! Is this etiquette?
What a great event.Well done KCAC.
Sorry for deserting you Steampig!!

Try and remember their numbers, and name and shame them on here. This goes for litter-dropping too. ;)

It's amazing round there isn't it.
I've run and walked there for the first time this year and I was quite surprised how dramatic the scenery is.

I got fed up picking up gel wrappers yesterday - it definitely wasn't by accident, cause I'd see the top of the gel packet and then 100/200 yards later the wrapper itself. Really disappointing.
Great event and I really liked this years finish. I don't think I ran hard enough as i managed a quick 6 miles today for sport relief!

Re: Wuthering Hike-Haworth Hob
Results anyone..... (probably posted, but I can't find them!)??
